Firefly

The Viking Supporters Co-operative are proud to announce we have organised our first charity event of 2015 for our official charity partner, Firefly Cancer Awareness and Support.

We have organised a match-day mascot package at the Bradford game for a local youngster to be a mascot, along with 7 friends who will be wearing Firefly t-shirts to help promote the charity. All of the kids have parents/carers who have been diagnosed with cancer and are either having treatment or are in remission.

We have also funded a big-screen advertisement and an article in the match-day programme, which we hope will raise awareness of the vital transport and support they provide for cancer patients around Doncaster.

Please consider making a donation to Firefly below:

DO YOU KNOW ANY YOUNGER FANS WITH A FLAIR FOR ART? IF SO THIS WILL BE OF INTEREST

As part of the Testimonial Celebrations for James Coppinger the VSC have teamed up with Copps, the Testimonial Celebrations Team (including Louis Tomlinson and his representatives) and many schools in and around Doncaster to bring a great competition to the younger fans of DRFC for the upcoming LEGENDS GAME. We would also like to extend this out to all the younger DRFC fans on the Viking Chat Forum, facebook and twitter.

The competition is an Easter Holiday Art Competition where the idea is to create an original piece of art, in any material on one side of A4 paper of either COPPS #26 or LOUIS #28.

There are three age groups: Key Stage 2, Key Stage 3 and Working Towards GCSE/A' Level and two sub-categories per age group: COPPS 26 and LOUIS 28.

The winning designs in each age range and category will be reproduced, signed by both Copps and Louis, framed and presented back to the artists on the pitch at some point before/at half time in the Legends game.

Winning art and runners-up in either category and all age-ranges will be bound together and presented in a book to Copps and Louis too.

The original artwork is to be handed in to Main Reception at the Keepmoat by 5:00pm on Tuesday April 7th. For full rules and regs and all details plus an entrance form click here.

GET ARTY, LET'S SEE THOSE 'CLOSET VAN GOGHS' and GOOD LUCK!

Paul Dickov’s Doncaster will be looking to end a bad week on a high note by picking up three points at Coventry City this weekend.

Rovers have plummeted from sixth to twelfth over the last seven days and were desperately unlucky to lose to a last minute goal against Swindon on Tuesday night.  On a positive note they have saved their best form for on the road this season, being beaten just once in the last twelve away games.  They do need to start to turn the abundance of away draws into wins though if there is still the faint hope of winning the race to the final play-off places.

New Coventry manager Tony Mowbray has re-ignighted the Sky Blues over the last few games.  They have won their last two to move three points clear of the relegation zone after impressive wins at Chesterfield and Fleetwood in the space of four days.  Rovers will have to keep an eye on on-loan striker Dominic Samuel in order to keep a clean sheet and be in with a chance of maximum points.

Rovers midfielder and legend James Coppinger has trained this week and could feature in the squad, while Paul Dickov remains without long term absentees Paul Keegan and Rob Jones.

Victory for Doncaster would help to keep the season alive and keep them in touch with the play-off places.  Sitting just four points from sixth position we all know that a lot can change in a week, and Rovers need a good week with another away day at MK Dons the following Saturday.  Victory for Coventry would push them further away from the relegation zone and just four points behind Doncaster in what is a crazy league this season.

Last time the two teams faced each other on Boxing day at the Keepmoat Stadium, Rovers took the spoils.  First half goals from Andy Butler and Harry Forrester gave Paul Dickov’s men all three points in a 2-0 victory.  Rovers last visited the Ricoh Arena almost two years ago to the day in March 2013.  It wasn’t a happy trip though as they lost 1-0 to a first half strike from Cyrus Christie.

Come on you reds!

Overall record vs Coventry City:  P 21/W 7/D 6/L 8
