inverness caledonian thistle v hamilton academical
« on August 29, 2010, 06:52:55 am by Donnywolf »
s .... as I have just discovered is EVEN TOO LONG to fit in the thread subject line !!!

My question was and is can there be a fixture in the UK that features 2 longer and popularly used names ?

I know AFC Bournemouth USED to be Bournemouth and Boscombe Athletic and Scunthorpe and Lyndsey United existed and may still do but the 2 above seem to be the champs for me

I think you are right, although any of these fixtures may also need the use of a 42\" TV

Wolverhampton Wanderers v West Bromwich Albion

 or Tottenham Hotspurs

Havant and Waterlooville V Rushden and Diamonds

Would have been Gravesend and Northfleet but they've merged!

... YES you can but...

I did say that this MUST be the longest (largest) number of letters for a fixture in the UK using the teams \"usual names\" ... i.e. the names that the BBC would read them out at 5 pm

They would not I suggest say Hampton & Richmond Borough Football Club.  1 Whoever they are playing 0 ... but they do and did call the 2 teams above as above (if you  see what I mean)

Moves closer to that milestone of 500 posts - do I get eating a pie when I get to 500 ?

In the first class UK game no and PSV is an acronym of Philips Sport Verein (forgive any mis spelt words as I could not be bothered to Google it)

I DONT have to look that one up - Queens Park Rangers - is shortened of course to QPR and therefore is not shorter than Bury
