Congratulaions to Andy.
« on July 14, 2013, 06:44:13 pm by newyankee »

I have just finished watching the extended highlights and am truly in awe of what a good job Andy Thompson and his crew have done.

I was very impressed with some of the football being played, but was much more impressed by how good the pitch looked, especially as in answer to some on here, there have been Rugby League games on it already.

Thanks Andy, keep up the good work.

Why? we're making money off this... and the Dons have as much right to play at the Keepmoat as we do too if you mean the sport in general.

We do as much damage to it as the rugby, and as I say, we'll be making money off this event and the Dons have the right to play there too. In fact, isn't it in the terms of the lease that we've got to let them play there? the stadium was built with the proviso of being a community stadium after all.

The KM is the Dons' patch too, always has been since day 1.

RL does no more damage to a pitch than football.  Rugby Union may be different, with their scrums etc, but let's get away from the myth that our pitch suffers because of the Dons...

It isn't the content of the writing (i.e. the grammar problems, as most of us know of his difficulties) people think it nonsense - it's the point he's trying to make about not letting the rugby on there to save the pitch for Rovers. Which is nonsense, especially as this will earn us money.

What some moaners seem to forget is the harsh winter conditions that knackered the pitch up last season.

I watched the season review DVD again last night and it is clearly evident at the point the pitch started to deteriorate rapidly. It was always going to be difficult with the length of the last winter to maintain the pitch to an extremely high standard. But nevertheless I think Andy and all involved did a bloody good job with what they had.

It's easier to have the sun/temperature and add water than it is to keep the pitch covered, reducing water on the surface area whilst not having any natural sun/heat which. Ruggers play during the summer so it shouldn't have that much of a negative effect.

The more events at the Keepmoat is beneficial for not just increased revenue, but also raising the profile of the stadium and the community aspect. Highlighted with us hosting the Ladies Final, boxing, cage etc...

... It's all good!  :scarf:
