The "key" to that is when No.8 touches it back, defender sees it and leaves wall to attack ball, meaning player to his left has to move over to cover gap, leaving another gap to shoot into. Good one.

According to the FIFA laws of the game "the ball is in play when it is kicked and moves". 

This doesn't say how much the ball has to move, and in this case, it does, just.

I wasn't implying it was not legal. It is in fact well worked, but it depended on the wall movement.
