Slightly OT but that game away at Mansfield was awesome. One of the best games I have been to, not including the final wins, or Scunny away, or Dingles away or... In fact there are so many!

Thanks, I read your original comment last night from the topic \"The Impossible Dream\" and decided to try and make a video with the lyrics on, but I wil admit it is a copy of the original video so please take nothing away from the other video or the author, it's still inspiring...

Couldn't agree more Ad, that Kasabian song on the Sony Kaka ad is pure undiluted class!

Edit - If that means nowt, i tried to reply to Adam about a page and a half up, still getting familiarised with this new improved format!

I'd like to see the old BV fav's playing again.

Entrance - Let me entertain you by Robbie Williams
Goal - Venga Boys

Both in their BV prime were classics, lets revive BV more at the KM

Impossible dream for me too. Great video Mr Croft. That Mansfield game was amazing and I still remember how BV erupted when McIndoe scored against Hull, some great memories!

If I could put my two penneth here.

I think we're in danger of nominating for different things here.

Anthem...If we're seraching for this. Something that will stand the test of time and will always be associated with the club and can be struck up before and during the game then, I don't think we need to look much further than Wild Rover(The longer version)

Entry Music. Now this is a different beast. For this I think we need a short uplifting piece, one that can appeal to all ages and can get you clapping and tapping and generally making some noise for the players when they come out. I see this as something that can change more frequently and, why not poll the players about this one ?

The Impossible Dream - A very thought provoking inspirational piece which set to the great images posted earlier is one which I could play over and over however, it's neither an anthem nor entry music.

So, I think we just need to distinguish what we're really looking for.

It really is a pity we don't have the video screens inside the Keepmoat and some of the brilliant handywork can't been shown before or at halftime. It is very moving and maybe educational to other fans to see what we have been through and what songs like 'The Impossible Dream' might mean to us. ......I wonder if we could get that 'You Tube' Video played on the TV screens at the same time that the song is belted out.:woohoo:

The last thing that I would like to hear is something that is borrowed as in the impossible dream. We need something unique to Donny, much as I hate to see a Leeds band helping us out Donny,Donny,Donny was popular and no other club was using it.

Nothing if not predictable me!

OK, we'll scrub Elbow.

How about A Design For Life instead?

The way I see things thus far, is for the ANTHEM proposals we have:

The Impossible Dream - Andy Williams / Various
Love’s Good To Me - Frank Sinatra
Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life - Monty Python
Molly Malone - Dubliners
Irish Rover - Dubliners
Wild Rover - Pogues / Dubliners
I’m A Rover - Dubliners
Ruby - Kaiser Chiefs
Centrefold - J Geils Band
Design For Life - Manic Street Preachers

_____________________________________________________________________

And for the rousing/player exit tunnel moment we have: (These really need to be on a different forum thread)

Immigrant Song - Led Zeppelin
The Vengabus Is Coming - Vengaboys
Because We Can - Moulin Rouge
Ride Of The Valkyries - Wagner
One Day Like This - Elbow
Underdog - Kasabian

Think we could make a good chant out of the chorus in the \"I'm a Rover\" song by the Dubliners but can't see it working as an anthem.

The Wild Rover would have the fastest take up around the ground as a lot of people know it already.  I'm split between that and \"The Impossible Dream\" which lyrics do relate to the club, particularly for the older supporters amongst us.

Is there not a way on here to start off a voting thread with the list filtered out by Scriptman.  I'm sure there is as have been very impressed by the new forum so far.

A poll is behind the idea of a thread, but I think we might need to give it a little longer so we've exhausted the nominations.

I can remember years ago the wife and I was in a pub, in the West Country. The local rugby team were celebrating, and the place suddenly erupted into a rendition of the 'Yellow Rose of Texas'....the lyrics being altered to relate to the team. Thinking about, the song is uplifting and the words are so easy to adapt.

For instance, and just off the top of my head:

The red and white of Rovers.
The one I'm going to see
No one could ever miss them
Not half as much as me
You can talk about united
You can talk about city
But the red and white of Rovers
Is the only one for me

Someone more creative with a nouse for lyrics will be able to do a far better job than me. It shows, however, how easy the song is to alter.

Aggree that there should be more time for nominations. Perhaps this could run through June, then set up the poll for July, with the aim of giving the results to JR for the start of August.

Not quite sure if I've linked properly but this is my choice:blink: Was at the Northern Ireland v England game in Belfast when this was sung. Fantastic and a very good 'feel good factor'.

Im liking that much better Script, more optimistic and upbeat than the dirge of Impossible Dream.

Another one for thoughts on a positive and upbeat note : It's not where you start it's where you finish. This is one of the better versions on YouTube, particularly the tempo of the second ;)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIXRTQGWZE0

The lyrics could also be slightly adapted, like Yellow Rose:

It's not where we start, it's where we finish
It's not how we go, it's how we land
A hundred to one shot, we're called a pub team
Can out run the favorite, all we need is a dream
Our final return will not diminish
And we can be the cream of the crop
It's not where we start, it's where we finish
And we're gonna finish on top

The song is more apt because it comes from a musical called 'Seesaw' ... no team has been on a seesaw ride like Donny. Problem is... do we want to be associated with a song made famous by a bunch of Muppets?

Glyn_Wigley

'Flashing Blade' I used to love that song, and the TV Series.

I agree with Wild Rover, that would be my choice.
