Youth Team (U18's)
« on November 22, 2016, 12:37:45 pm by lukeygladdy »
Can't seem to find a topic for this so thought I'd start one.

I'll post the results for this season's games in here, plus any write up of the games I go to see.

Results and standings can be seen here:

http://uk.soccerway.com/teams/england/doncaster-rovers-u18/28749/

Although there is usually a day or twos delay in the results getting updated.

Solid 3-2 victory at home vs Rotherham today. Goals from J Morris, L Henderson and J Fletcher (pen).

Solid performance and deserved win. Write up to follow.

No disgrace in a narrow defeat to a side whose 1st team is two divisions higher.

thought i had already posted this off my mobile but seemingly it didnt go through.

the above reports aren't done by me, fortunately the club looks to have pulled the finger out and got someone in!

probably leaves my posts/reviews a little redundant but i will continue to post the scores while i'm at the games and we the links to the full reports can be shared in here too.

the game this weekend (vs Mansfield) has been cancelled due to their FA Youth Cup commitments.

merry xmas all and i'll update in the NY.  :santa:

Yes. Lost 2-1 at Notts County. Last week they got a creditable 1-1 draw at Mansfield, who are the League leaders.

Is this the right place to start sack the manager thread?

The difference between a good and bad season seems to be a goalscorer and we've not had one since McKay/Mandeville and Ball before then. Probably still got decent players despite not the best results.

Who is the youth team scapegoat, there must be one?! :ermm:. Did anybody notice Jerry Yates scored for Rotherham in the championship, didn't one of our lads say he was with our youth team at one point?.

A large % of the starting lineup in the youth team this year has been 1st year's as second years have either been with 1st team (Longbottom/Fielding) or injured (or not picked).

Hopefully next year the benefit of this experience will show through.

As for goals, I know Scattergood bagged a few early on (5/6 in the first 3) and has maybe added 2/3 since. Morris also got a couple early on and was on the scoresheet twice this weekend in the 2-2 draw with Hartlepool.

Josh Barker was playing for Lincoln's Under-21s the other week. I don't know if this is an indication that he is being released, but he's a Second Year.

I believe that in addition to Longbottom and Fielding at least one of the Second Years will be offered a contract. Probably Louis Jones and/or Tyler Walker.
