Your thoughts on the trip Home Park, Plymouth
« on December 11, 2016, 11:37:10 am by PL2 3DQ »

Hi

A Plymouth Argyle fan here. I come in peace.  :santa:

Would you be kind enough to give your thoughts on the questions below based on your experience of Home Park on Saturday?
It would be fantastic to get an opinion of Home Park from opposition supporters; I would then post your answers on the Argyle fans forum PASOTI to give Argyle fans a perspective from an opposition fan, also those who matter at PAFC regularly read the forum and would take on board your criticism or praise.

You have a very good attacking team who play a pass and move style of football, good luck for the rest of the season.

1: How easy was the stadium to get to (from the station, by car etc)?

2: If applicable – how was car parking near the ground?

3: If applicable – how are the pubs and local attractions in Plymouth?

4: What did you think of Home Park stadium and the view you had?

5: How was the atmosphere at the stadium from both sets of supporters?

6: How were the stewards on the day?

7: If you ate or drank at the stadium, how would you rate the food and drink?

8: Would you recommend any improvements?

9: What did you think of the Argyle team, style of play etc?

10: Finally, an overall score out of 10?

Many thanks.

What are you personal thoughts on your keeper, someone with his track record surely shouldn't be displaying the sorts of antics he did at the end.
"Club legend" according to some of your fans. Deffo leaves a sour taste in the mouth. .

Welcome to this site - all true football supporters are always welcome

Unfortunately I was not there yesterday so cannot give you any feedback myself. However you will notice some of us are a little emotional right now concerning an incident with one of the fairest, most gentlemanly players ever to don a Rovers shirt. I apologise for that rawness, and I encourage all true Rovers supporters to give constructive and honest feedback, just as we would hope to receive from visitors to the Keepmoat.

Thank you for your comments on our team, and of course excepting the rematch in Doncaster, all the best for the rest of the season.

 :welcome:

Thanks.

Please don't judge us on one isolated incident at the end of the game.
I noticed Mandeville had some words with McCormick before he took the penalty and after the penalty McCormick responded in kind but also two other Argyle players, Miller and Bradley, approached Mandeville.
It was all heat of the moment but McCormick does appear to be singled out.

McCormick has served his time as according to the rules of the land. He's very remorseful, tries to stay out of the limelight and does a lot of good work behind the scenes.

I think your mistake was attacking us because we struggle to break down teams that sit back and defend which is why we are better in away games when teams attack us.
But I do understand it's your style to attack and have been involved in some very entertaining games.

Anyway,  what do you think of us? See above.

I wanted to die all the way home that was genuinely the most depressing journey of my life.

1: How easy was the stadium to get to (from the station, by car etc)?
Traffic awful with the roadworks, but locals generous in letting me push in :)

2: If applicable – how was car parking near the ground?
Easy.

4: What did you think of Home Park stadium and the view you had?
I like it, shame the terraces aren't used any more.

5: How was the atmosphere at the stadium from both sets of supporters?
We were subdued most of the game, but sound travelled well from the other side of the ground, impressive home support.

6: How were the stewards on the day?
Seemed fine and as far as I saw they handled the situation around the post penalty calmly.

7: If you ate or drank at the stadium, how would you rate the food and drink?
Ace pie on the way from the back of a van.

8: Would you recommend any improvements?
A direct route from the ticket office to the away end without having to wander all the way round, or if there is one being told when buying tickets.

9: What did you think of the Argyle team, style of play etc?
Understandably defensive/counter attack on this occasion though the consistant hoof ball was surprising. Effective but very lucky.
Special mention to your keeper who was an utter t**t.

10: Finally, an overall score out of 10?

I go along with BRR's comments and would highly praise the quality of Steward. I managed to enter the wrong gate in the home end and the stewards got me around to the away end and it ended up £4 cheaper.

If you read back my comments on your GK actions you will see that the GK left his goal line and made comments to Mandy before the penalty, hardly likely to be complements I think. We had a play off game where the same thing happened and our GK was booked by Mr Oliver!! for the same thing.

There was no excuse for missing the penalty but the manner of your GK actions after the miss will not be forgotten. I like to think I am a level headed supporter that does not over react to such behaviour but when he gets his comeuppance I will not make any criticism for the perpetrators.

As far as I am concerned we never looked like scoring and the better team won on the day but the actions of your GK will make the return game very interesting every team has windup merchants lets see if he can take it.

It wasn't a play off game

It felt like a play off, last game of the season and we won the league, I was there.

With that  level of accuracy My Frost have you thought of being a ref?

The point being officials and their consistency (or lack of it),

their keeper should have been booked and the incident would probably not have arisen, but who knows?

Your keeper is an idiot.

Neither young Mandeville nor Coppinger have a malicious bone in their body. They wouldn't say or do anything unless provoked.

Yes, there will always be gamesmanship but what followed from your keeper was OTT. We could see his actions but we don't know what he said but it must have been bad for Copps to react like that. Both should have been booked. End of.

1: How easy was the stadium to get to (from the station, by car etc)?
Despite the roadworks it was pretty straight forward.

2: If applicable – how was car parking near the ground?
Large car park but it's a park and ride and probably used by xmas shoppers heading into the city in addition to those attending the game so although we arrived well in time it was approaching full.

3: If applicable – how are the pubs and local attractions in Plymouth?
Heavy rain when we got there at 12pm and nowhere at that time around the stadium to go for a drink/bite to eat so we went in the cafe at the Leisure Centre.

4: What did you think of Home Park stadium and the view you had?
View was ok. Will be a really good stadium if and when they get the old stand replaced. Pre the stands opening, facilities as far as eating and drinking are poor.

5: How was the atmosphere at the stadium from both sets of supporters?
A bit tame particularly from the home fans.

6: How were the stewards on the day?
Ok and seemed to handle the incident after the pen well when visiting fans were understandably irate.

7: If you ate or drank at the stadium, how would you rate the food and drink?

8: Would you recommend any improvements?
I thought directions and signage to the stand for visiting fans was poor.

9: What did you think of the Argyle team, style of play etc?
Defended fairly resolutely but not impressed with the persistent long kick and rush. The best footballing side lost, which for the first time this season didn't score ... but I would say that wouldn't I :)

10: Finally, an overall score out of 10?

Many thanks.
