As soon as he came on , it was to accept a corner. Took it short, in some kind of set play. Failed, would have liked to see what they had in mind.
Not much to report really, seems nippy and agile. Tiny.
Desperately needs to ditch the Beckham-esque ponytail. having said that, Curtis Main listened to me and his game went downhill rapidly after getting a haircut.

Liam Holden put on Twitter that Ferguson had been raving about him in training and has high hopes for him

His very first touch of the ball looked nervy (completely understandable on his football league debut) but after that he settled down. Not on long enough to offer a proper judgement but as others have alluded to he looked lively, quick and showed for the ball well. It's exciting to get a new striker that's something of an unknown quantity, and I hope he gets more chances to show what he can do soon.

Great to read on Twitter how much it meant to him to make his debut for us.

It genuinely is great to read and hear. Something that has been severely lacking at this club for too long. These new young lads (and the older ones) genuinely seem to value and want to play for us.

When I spoke to Marquis after the pompey game we talked about the fight for a first place. He said its good to have competition as it keeps you on your toes, then Tommy Rowe leaned over laughed and said their shitting themselves incase Alfie takes their place.

Nice story! I looked at a lot of those vids of him playing at his old club. He was very impressive. I think next season could be the one for him.

But when have we last had 4 strikers of this quality at the club? And I'm not including Beestin or others, their time isn't here yet.

When he signed his new deal, DROS referred to Beestin as a midfielder. Dunno whether that's where Fergie sees him (perhaps a number 10) or it was just the usual standard of reporting on there!

He's not an out and out striker. Probably more of a No. 10 at the moment though I can see his long term future as a midfielder.

Difficult to know where Beestin will find his position. He has a good physique and taller than I first thought, so being good on the ball, he could play in numerous positions, maybe become a Ricky Lambert type player.

Alfie May seems to be the goalscoring, dare I say greedy, type who has one objective. Sometimes it's no bad thing to be single minded when you think of the likes of Paul Heffernan who served us well.

I'd say Beestin is similar to Coppinger. He'd be at the tip of our diamond. Great technique and creative.

I would also say that DF has already started the mould building for AB, he is young and it appears that the production line is building several multi fit tools for future years, Many on here did say and that includes DF that the Barnsley system had produced a good set without busting the bank too

I keep thinking Alfie May's chant should be to Oasis "Some Might Say".

Good shout...

I suggested just repeating his name over and over to the tune of Enya's 'Sail Away' until it becomes as annoying as the original

I was watching some tv show the other night about popular or best selling singles when a hugely popular, catchy, well known song come on and I immediately thought it would make a cracker for an Alfie May chant. This is what I've got so far.

Alfie May,
He came from Hythe he signed on New Years Day,
He scores for fun, he makes defences pay,
Oh I/we believe in Alfie May.

To the tune of Yesterday by the Beatles which surprisingly I don't think I've ever heard used for a football chant.
