Our average of 2.4 points per game would have to be kept up over the last 19 games to get us 103 points.
I cant see that being done, as good as we are.

I saw some analysis the other day that said that if we continue to accumulate points at the rate we have so far this season we'll finish on 99. So the bet looks a good one and the odds aren't really that skinny.

One point more than second place will do me, failing that one more than third place

Not as big as you think, if we get 100 goals 100 points is very likely. They are linked.

If we get 100 goals it will be almost certain we will get 100 points.
I think we will probably get 100 points but only possibly 100 goals.

I'm more confident of getting near the 100 points with lawler between the sticks. ...I think he will stop some shots going in that the other keepers wouldn't.  Don't think he will add to the 100 goals though.

I reckon Lawler between the sticks could cost us "big time" - whereas Lawlor will do us proud

I spoke last night with Andy Butler and he was singing the praises of Lawlor, saying how he would be a massive benefit to the team.

Which is exactly what I was saying before we had even signed a keeper, despite some on here claiming it was a waste due to Marosi's form. Marosi has been good for us, there's no doubting that, but for me, there was room for improvement and, after only 2 games, I think we are starting to see the benefit of a big confident lad as our last line. The back 3 or 4 do seem to be more confident and have confidence in him, which is good to see. Long may it continue and improve.

Do forgive me donnywolf. I read a lot but don't post much on here and I have just remembered why. ...don't think I'll bother any more.

Hey Roversron - total apology from me - keep on posting !

Apart from "here here" which should be "hear hear" I barely comment on anything else but did it twice yesterday when someone called Plymouth a Town and I said its a City (and a good quiz question)

Must have been a bit feeling a bit rebellious I guess !

i accidentally found out notts county got 102 points in rovers relegation season (obviously finished bottom)

so could it be what goes around comes around

i was expecting county to have the embargo lifted by now so it's getting pretty photo finish - he has got a lot of players lined up

the losing post might come just in time

"Town" and "City" should not have capitals. Live by the sword die by the sword. 😀

Donnywolf is one of the least offensive people on this forum roversron and was just having a bit of fun with you.  You need to have thicker skin than that in this world.

Just checked and Notts County got 'only' 99 points in 1997-98.

Since 3 points per win was introduced in 1981-82, 100 points has been achieved only 12 times across all the top 4 Divisions, with Fulham the only club to achieve it twice.

Prior to 1981-82, if 3 points  per win had been in operation a further 9 occasions of 100 points plus would have occurred, including Rovers in 1946-47.

Edit: Only Rovers with the equivalent of 105 in 42 matches in 1946-47 and Spurs with the equaivalent of 102 in 42 matches in 1919-20 have achieved the equivalent of 100 points in a season of less than 46 matches

yes you are right !! i was sure i saw 102 points but statto agrees

99  red (& white) balloons sounds better than 102

http://www.statto.com/football/teams/notts-county/1997-1998/table

if you look at their last six matches won 3 drew 2 lost 1 --so they screwed it up at the end

That 100 points this season is looking good.
At this rate we will get 100 goals also.
4 matches on the trot we have scored 3 and first time since 2006 we have won 5 league games on the trot.
16 points ahead of 4th place.
This team means business.

Our average points per game so far is 2.1785.
To get 100 points we need 39 from 18 games, that is an average of 2.1666 per game.
A tall order but becoming more possible with each victory.

Skybet have now got us at 12-1 to reach 100 points.

Interesting price that.

We are averaging 2.18 points a game which would give us 100 points.

However the first 10 games we "only" got 17 points. Since then and now we have sorted the defence out we have averaged 2.44 over that last 18 games. Keep that up and we would end up on 105 points.

Long way to go however.

Skybet have got this one wrong, I don't think we will get 100 points but it's closer to 2/1 than 14/1

They do seem to have some "strange" offers at times - just to suck people in maybe ?

I could not believe yesterday they had Wolves at 14/1 (well trailed on here)  in a 2 horse race - with one of the horses setting off for the start not knowing if it wanted to win or not !!

That I thought was way too high but still surely easier for Wolves (at 14/1) in one game than for us to keep bagging Points to get to a 100 for the same 14/1 ?

Rovers v Portsmouth - I got 5/1 for us to win and both Teams to score. 5/1 is a lot higher than the average 3/1 or 11/4 I have been getting and again its based on just one game.

So I think if the odds on 100 Points was lower than that it would be too low given there are loads of games left and maybe 14/1 is about right and should be taken ? Maybe its gone down a bit but probably worth a Fiver of mine rather than us beating Morecambe and both Team scoring at probably 3/1 ?

I am not a Bookie so cant explain the odds but someone will help me out no doubt !

To be Promoted 1/33 (now that one IS a good looker)

Love those promotion odds DW.

For me the Title is still 50-50 at best. Plymouth are still theoretically within 1 point if they win their 2 games in hand. I think it unlikely but definitely not impossible that someone else outside the two of us might win it

100 Points is still an outside bet for me. Quite apart from the (hopefully very very low) chances of an undesired loss of a player or two before the transfer window closes if someone bids really silly money, and the possiblility of bad injuries to key players without the possibility of the loan market to cover (except keepers), and simply a temporary loss of form or luck, even then 39 points from 18 games is still a large ask.

I think people do not realise how stupendous our 1946-47 season was. To put it in context those 72 points in 42 games translates into 105 points at 3 per win, or exactly 2.5 points a game. That is 115 points over 46 games. To just equal that we would have to win ALL of our 18 remaining games!

As I said elsewhere, it is indisputably the best ever season in any Division in all Football League history in a season of 42 matches or more.

So far (after 28 games) this season is the best in our entire history ever apart from that one.

And I bet  there were moaners in the fans in 1946-47 as  well!
