What does the second one mean? That we concede every 5.28 shots we face?

I am finding the title text is a little confusing BRR

Is it meant to mean we take the fewest shots to score a goal in the whole league (i.e conversion rate is great) , but the oppo takes the fewest shots to score (i.e. either the oppo have all been very efficient against us, including some worldies, or we have not saved or blocked many shots - or a combination of both)

That is the only interpretation that makes sense to me.

Certainly we haven't scored 5.87 goals for every shot we have made!

Yep, it's written the wrong way around, it should say:
"Shots needed per goal scored"

We both need less shots to score than any of the 92 clubs, and our opposition need less shots to score against us that any of the 92 clubs.

More accuracy, worse defences, poorer keepers?

So we don't score 5 per 1 shot? :(

If that sort of analysis floats your boat, then try https://experimental361.com/2017/01/15/scatter-graphics-league-2-14-jan-2017/ (@experimental361 on Twitter)

Looking at that doesn't it show the issue is the keeper. We're having few shots against us, so the defence isn't the issue but we do let in quite regularly the shots we face.

Not really given that it still counts as a shot if a defender blocks it. You could easily argue we aren't blocking enough shots as a team.
