DF Luton interview
« on February 18, 2017, 06:37:32 pm by albie »
DF concerned about Houghton;
BBC Radio Sheffield - Football Heaven, 'Don't lose games, that's the key'

Be interesting to see if the elbow on Marquis makes it onto the video highlights!

Good to note that DF praised the character of the team.

To my mind, this is the biggest single difference that he has made since he arrived. It's something that's been lacking since we went up in 2013 and just goes to highlight how insipid the players gathered by his predecessor were.

The fear is that Houghton is now out until the end of the season. Time for someone to step into the breach - very hard as Houghton has been my player of the season so far - and for he team to show more character.

I agree with your thoughts about Houghton, however (and it maybe the main factor of our dip in form) he seems to have gone off the boil for last month
Hope the lad is ok he really has been great for us

Houghton has been a fantastic signing and one of our most important players this season.
IF it is the worse case scenario and he is done for the season then I hope it isn't the last we've seen of him in a Donny Shirt.

Would expect Middleton to come in for him for the next 2/3 games then mcsheffery to come in once he's fully match fit

As long as it's not Keegan, that would destroy us and make us so one dimensional

McSheffrey wouldn't come in for a midfielder who sits. It'll be Middleton, Keegan or Baudry. Mason potentially too.

I would be tempted to give Mason a go in midfield if there is a possibility of us signing him on a permanent deal in the summer. I dont feel he is good enough defendively and a poor fullback but thats not necessarily his fault hes been played there. Give him a chance in midfield and see what he has to offer.
If he isnt in Fergies plans next season then I would play Middleton and give him some experience before next season.

I think Middleton is likely to be tried first. If it is not working, and more defenders become available (Lund, ATS) then Mason or Baudry might be tried.

Either way, good luck to Houghton, and just maybe it might not be as bad as feared.

Edit: By the way does anyone know how Luke McCullough is progressing? Last we heard was he was ahead of schedule. Might he be back before the season ends?

Middleton has impressed me the times he's come on this season. Had a noticeable influence/change on games.

Mason went into midfield for the second half of Notts away on boxing day and looked very assured. Think he would suit it well, he's technically better than Middleton and Keegan

You know what, I had virtually forgotten about Luke.
He played in the holding role a few times last season and looked very comfortable there.
He also got a few very good shots away when getting forward.
If we don't get Jordan back for next season I reckon Luke would be a natural to take that position.

If Luke had n't got injured we would not have signed Houghton, Luke was earmarked for that role, and in my opinion is made for it

Just heard a first hand report about some of our younger (first team squad) players being involved in a bit of a brawl in a town centre night club on Saturday night.

Really Sad.
Remember when we lost Tamas for a few weeks due to getting cracked in town?

Didn't Hayter get dropped by Sean O'Driscoll for something similar?
