Who moved the goals?
« on February 25, 2017, 06:32:44 pm by DonnyBazR0ver »
Someone must have moved the goals two yards to the right. Can't explain otherwise why Copps, Rowe, Williams and Butler put chances wide of the target when in 3 of those, it would have been easier to get it between the sticks.

Piss poor finishing today cost us. We can rant all we want about the incompetent ref but we should have won that game with a bit to spare.

We don't want many more of these head in hands jobs if we really believe we are the best team in this league. Every one of our rivals are making it easy for us but we keep passing up chances to put this campaign to bed.

Totally agree with Baz, we can complain about the defending for their two goals. We can complain about certain players, yet missing those chances aswell as the goal, must change. All four chances should have been taken.

Looked a handful, but had a great chance to score. Took a touch which gave them time to react when if he'd hit it first time he'd probably have equalised.

Have to agree.

Some of our players need to develop more of a ruthless streak; and quickly. Right now we're under no pressure to get results given the form of teams behind us so the players can't complain that they're feeling the heat. Think what it would be like if this team were needing a win to keep up with the pack.

Perhaps that's the problem. Accrington are in a relegation scrap and carried that bit of edge. They'll be very happy taking a point from us. We, on the other hand, seem to have been lulled into a false sense of security following a stellar January. There seems to be an in-built expectation that we'll create loads of chances - if we miss one don't worry there'll be plenty more - and we then either concede a cheap goal early or we concede later on when the opposition think they're still in with a sniff.

Last year a lack of professionalism was a key contributor to our woes. Perhaps it's time for Ferguson to read the riot act to make sure it doesn't happen again.

It's not the creating and conversion of chances that I'm most concerned with. We've knocked in 63 goals this season, comfortably the most in League 2, so we're not doing badly in that department overall even though we did miss a few today.

It's the fact that we needed to score three to beat bloody Accrington, a team who have struggled massively to score goals away from home this season. Defensively we are very vulnerable, even against poor sides. And that's worrying.

Yes the defending for their two goals was poor and it must improve especially for next season, but missing clear cut chances with only the keeper to beat or empty net shows that with 63 goals scored it should have been a lot more.

We are going through a similar stage to the start of the season dominating games but not taking the chances so far we have got away with it we are still top of the league and there to be challenged. We need some clean sheets so the pressure isn't on the front lads to keep producing loads of goals at the minute we don't seem capable of edging a game one nil that has to change.
