Replacing Houghton

Just a thought but would Blair be a suitable replacement for Jordan? Tall enough to win headers, fast enough, can tackle, can beat a player, can pass.
Middleton did OK today but not mobile enough.
I also think we are acommodating Grant by playing him on the right, move Copps to the right let Grant play left and put Rowe on the tip behind the 2 strikers just a thought and open to discussion

Thought Grant looked better on left, but was poor on right today. Not sure Middleton was the issue today. We just missed too many good chances in front of goals (but we created them which is a real possitive). Baudry and Butler settled at the back would be a massive improvement. Butler looks half the player when Baudry not there and our recent form coincided with their injuries.

No chance, why would we play a fast winger who isn't the most technically gifted as a holding midfielder? Still think Mason would be good there but Evina isn't good enough for left back so not an easy one.

Well I thought Middleton did ok today.
We wouldn't be having this discussion if May, Williams or Rowe had scored when they had great chances. At 3-1 we would probably had gone on to win 4-1
The chances are being created so I am not concerned too much.
I still think someone is going to get a hammering from us.
We just need one game where it all goes right and the confidence will flow again.
We will finish the season very strongly I am sure.

Thing is, Middleton is actually a central midfielder, whereas the players being suggested - McSheffrey, Blair - have never in their lives played the type of role people suddenly seem to think they'd be able to.

I'd put Mason there and bring Garrett back or stick Alcock - who, yes, can play left back and has done before - in his place.

I'd stick with Middleton for now but he needs help around him. Sometimes we become over reliant on Copps doing all the creating. It's no good having cameo bursts from Grant and Rowe. They need to take their share of work rather than leave it to the old stager!

Tommy Rowe was excellent today and was our most creative player.
Only blemish was that miss, when he should have scored.

Baudry is a centre back and needs to stay there. To move him into midfield would in my opinion be madness.
With Houghton out the only candidates for the holding midfield role are Keegan, Middleton or Mason.

Mason is also a defender, a centre half or right back by trade and we're playing him at left back, so you want him in centre mid but not Baudry?

Having seen how Middleton did on Saturday, I'd be putting Keegan in tomorrow night. Or changing the set-up completely and playing one up front, 5 in midfield.
