Mason - he's earned the shirt
Still not convinced LM can play that role

I rate Luke and think he is one of our best players. Thing is though, hes going to need a good run in the team before hes properly ready. Lets seal promotion first. Then give him a few games, try a few of the fringe players and experiment a few things in preparation for next season.
He will be in the starting 11 next season im sure.

McCulloch was looking a class player in that position at the end of last season. He had a blinder at Rochdale, but I rate Mason very highly too.
Best leave things as they are at the mo, but I'd have Luke on the bench.

Luke is ideal for that position but I wouldn't throw him in yet..

Bench at best, maybe a start or two before the end of the season..

The last few games when promotion and the championship is won are ideal for a bit of experimentation, or for getting the squad players involved a bit more.

Great to see everyone agrees don't change a winning team adding Luke to the bench would make our bench the strongest in the league

Puts further pressure on Middleton to perform if and when he gets the chance.

Luke has done really well to get back and be fit and ready for the team's sake. Fair play and all due respect to the lad. Makes the bench even stronger for now.

Luke for me over mason. It might just be me but I don't rate mason. We need to be carful with luke though and gradually introduce him back into the team in a the next few games before the end of the season. No point taking risks with him.

Mason all day long. He's performed admirably in both positions and there's no way that Fergie will drop him. Luke will be gradually eased back in.

I thought since day one Middleton isn't good enough. My opinion still stands. I played football with his uncle actually, they are a nice family. I just don't see the potential in him to make an impact at any higher level than he is doing. I see that potential in Mason, Houghton and Wright.

Mason is looking like a natural replacement for JH so he just be kept in there.
Never mind "wait until we are promoted and then play anybody", we want to win the league and so do the players.
Luke very obviously wont be match fit but i can see him getting a few cameo appearances much like McSheff is doing.
It will be interesting next season if we retain the services of Mason and get Houghton back, to see who gets the holding role given that many of us see Lukes' best position there too.
As for Middleton, i have always thought he looks better in a slightly more forward role and i reckon he has improved tremendously this season.
Nice to have so many good young players right now.

I think that LM is a great player to have on the bench in that he can play several roles
For me he doesn't read the game well enough to be a regular starter
Regardless it's great to see him back to fitness

If we do get Mason and Houghton back next season it will be great for squad depth, but no contest for the holding midfield role. Houghton is a class apart. McCullough has done well there in his limited appearances but Houghton will only get better than this season, when he has already proven himself to be a natural in the role.

Given the nature of his injury I doubt Houghton will be ready to play again until around the end of the year. So we need someone to play that role and for me Luke fits the bill.

I have a feeling he will be on the bench in the final few games of this season.

Luke McCullough when fit will be better than Niall Mason ( not saying that NM is a bad player ) and out of the 3 of them including Jordan Houghton  I expect LM will have a longer career at a higher level. Also I'm not having a go at JH because we have missed him ,it's just my opinion.
