Leeds' lowest moment?
« on May 08, 2017, 02:07:44 pm by RoversAlias »
BBC's Sportsday "write-in" today is about club's lowest moments, in the wake of Blackburn going down to the third tier, and someone on their offered up his from Leeds:

Quote
Doug Johnston: There have been many for Leeds. Having to pay Robbie Fowler to leave the club, going into administration, being relegated from the Premier league, the play-off final defeat to Watford, being relegated from the Championship and the FA Cup defeat to Histon. But there is one that stands out: the League One play-off final defeat to Doncaster Rovers (pictured). That almost made me lose faith in football.

So there you go folks, it might feel a bit doom and gloom for some reason around here at the moment but remember why we go to football - for moments like this:

Scared for life, love it!

Every service station on the M1 back home was like a scene from the apocolypse!

I got set on by about 10 or  more Leeds lads on wembley way upto the stadium before the game > infact about 5 mins before game kicked off .

could not handle these Leeds lads on my own ,but a well known ddr lad to both Doncaster and all Leeds lads stepped and saved my bacon .
These Leeds lads were from the Leeds area I was told later.

"Almost made me loose faith in football" Doesn't this bloke realise that Don Revie and his thugs did make half the country loose faith in football.

So the way Leeds used to play under don revie as in ' dirty leeds' is the reason why so many fans hate them across the country from the 1970s days .

Every Road Sign on the M1 was entertaining for me in some way or another

Lots of them I bellowed out Birmingham - y-e-a-h see you next Season - and that seemed to be every Junction

Then my best one (though you had to be there) a Mileage Board that had Nottingham 20 odd Sheffield 30 odd Doncaster 30 odd and Leeds 40 odd -  you will all have been past it.

Whoa I shouted which of them is the odd one out

Dont know says my Passenger

Easy only Leeds dont have a Team in The CHAMPIONSHIP. Laugh I nearly f*****g crashed !

The said replay in that Chelsea/Leeds cup final where if it was played today untold would have seen a red card.

.... AND who could forget (if you were alive back then) the last time Wolves won the Title (albeit for Derby) by beating the mighty Leeds in 1972 AND AND depriving them of the Cup and League Double

http://www.mightyleeds.co.uk/matches/19720508.htm

Wolves fans (ahem) and Leeds haters WOULD remember it well !

Still furious that we didn't win the league that season. Really sticks in the throat, feels very empty celebrating a play off victory when we didn't win the title. Probably the most deflating way to get promoted knowing you were only the third best team in the league.

I think he is having a dig at those of us who are disappointed that we didn't in the league this time.
He may just be easily pleased.

Top Rovers moment of my life that was. Even better than Stoke.

Best thing about it was we were simply a better team than them, much better. We knew it before the game and we proved it. We had an incredibly good team at that point.

Johnathan, it was probably the best team we have ever had.

It had everything - class, heart, energy, bottle and craft - still see Stocky as one of our best ever
