Paul Keegan
« on May 09, 2017, 10:57:12 am by RoversAlias »
Can we just take a moment to acknowledge the one player in this list of releases who has been a long servant of DRFC?

Signed so long ago that I believe Sean O'Driscoll was the man to recruit him, Paul Keegan has played in over 100 games for the Rovers, scored three goals (f**k you Charlton) and was part of our famous title-winning side of 2012/13. By my reckoning Coppinger is the only survivor now in fact from that side.

He's also responsible for one of my favourite moments of the last few years, that sumptuous free kick away at Burton that for some reason I just knew was going in the top corner.

So good luck to "Keegs" wherever he goes next I say, one of the only players leaving today that I hold any sentiment for.

Great professional. He gave an extended applause to the fans on Saturday. Hope he gets a good club.

Shame about the injuries. Not a world beater but could have done a job in League one. He's just had a very disjointed time with us.

It's always a sad occasion for me to see any long serving Rovers player leave our club. A pity injuries cost him dearly whilst with us, but I always thought he gave his all for us when he did play.

Good luck to you and your family Paul, thank you for everything you have done for our great club, I really do hope you find a club quickly, and that you stay fit, and continue to enjoy your football at a club suited to your talents.    :byebye:  :byebye:  :byebye:  :byebye:

Good solid pro who career was largely blighted by muscle injuries. But as a previous contributor stated played a massive role in the 2013 title charge this despite playing alongside the pointer for a big part of that season. Thank you Paul & good luck for the future

A good, honest pro who did the dirty things well. Blighted by injuries. All the best Keegs!

Thanks Paul and hope you find a club asap. Big decision for him I guess, stay around here and find a local club or go back to Ireland.

I'll be really sorry to see Keegs leave the club and I add my thanks and best wishes to him for the future.

He once rang me at work to thank me for renewing my Season Ticket, and although I realise he was one of several players tasked by the club to do this, he's been my hero ever since!

What a great shame we saw so little of him due to injuries, but if he can stay fit I'm sure he will do a good job for somebody next season.

All the best Paul.

Loved him. Not the most skillful but he did his job well and one of my favourites of recent times.

Some didn't rate him but he was a good solid pro and always seemed like a good bloke and hopefully he can do well for himself again. Just a shame he couldn't pick up another winners' medal with us before he left.

We're on the pitch if Keegan scores!

It comes to us all Paul you were starting to ruin the team pictures not many appreciate the Phil Mitchell look. Joking aside on here we've doubted your ability at times but i can't remember your effort being doubted i'm sure you will be welcome and shown respect whenever you visit our stadium in the future. You've been a good solid and reliable pro not scared of plenty of hard work-good luck in the future. :scarf:

Best of luck,he's been a great servant and probably has been unlucky with injuries.. when he did play he was very steady in midfield..

A genuinely nice guy who always gave his best for the club, despite a poor run of injuries. I wish him well whatever he decides to do from now on.

Good honest pro who has had no luck with injuries the last 2/3 years. Hope he can get over his injuries and find a club in the summer.

I think the high (for this site) number of likes on the initial post tells the story of a popular player

All the very best from me too Paul
