Same as when they signed Leon Clark and the other forward ahead of us a couple of years ago and won nothing. Signing 30+ year old shite has beens isn't a very sustainable business model at this level.

As he was ouy of contract he cost nothing,Bury and scunny are in the same league so maybe hes got a better deal than what scunny was prepared to offer

Yeah 3 years and 2 years for 33yr old Beckford. Not the most sensible transfer approach.

Is this even splashing the cash? Hardly signings that strike fear into the hearts of their rivals. I'm certainly not sad that they've signed Dawson and Beckford, we can and will recruit much better.

Just cos they might not "strike fear into the hearts of their rivals" doesn't mean they've not chucked money at it.

Anyone remember when we signed Tommy Tynan to partner Billy Whitehurst up front with Johnny Muir as back up? Many thought it looked a formidable partnership.

We finished second bottom of division 4 that season.

Age should not be a barrier Dearne Rover.just look what Iibrohimovch and Defoe have achieved in scoring goals season just gone.Beckford scores goals and maybe Bury can benifit from that'

There's a massive difference between Ibrohimovich and Beckford acko and age is always a factor in sport. Dawson had good season this year but at his age it isn't likely he will have another 3 and when was the last time Beckford did?

I know theres a big difference in class regarding the players i mentioned dont forget Defoe had to rediscover his self after leaving for Canada,Iwonder what the postings would be if the Rovers hadnt offered Copps a new contract hes 36 and by his own admission cant last 90 mins on a regular basis,

What, no signing up fee or agent's fees? How did they wangle that?

Dawson is the kind of player we need in our new-look midfield, but not at his age and certainly not for a 3 year contract. Barmy.

Is this another side that thinks they are 'going for it' next season?

i think you'll find that the correct terminology is "going 4 it" - makes it sound a lot edgier and happening and "down with the kidz" - "going for it" is, well - like going to the shops or going for a shit or something....

Think it was Tom Pope,is he still there?

That's the man. 10 goals in two seasons. People were losing their shit when he signed for them on massive money over us...

I unfortunately remember it well Surrey. Didn't they score about 3 goals between them that season?

On a side note Bury have released Chris Brown. He hasn't scored a single goal since leaving us in 2014. Astounding
