Very interesting.
Thanks for posting that, some of us who don't do Facebook would never have seen it.

Had some quality players recently haven't we.

I'd have thought Heffs was a better finisher than Hayter though.

Interesting - Gareth Bale best overall player but Copps most talented!! Feel privileged to have seen such a player at donny so long! And stocky wasn't half bad either!

Diouff had some fantastic ball skills, I remember watching some of the tricks he was doing at half time when he was a sub for Leeds in one of the games against them at the KMS.
To put Copps above him as the most talented is a great endorsement.

would love to see Stocky come back for the Hall of fame presentation he deserves.
One of my all time favs with Copps.

Terrific player & great fella, right up there with my all time favourite Rovers players. Believe he was Sean's first signing on loan when he took over, Huddersfield away I think. Brilliant to watch at times.

I don't remember Diouf playing against us, when was that?

He was a sub for leeds, i think it was in the game where we won on pens.
I cant remember whether or not he came on for them but at half time he put on an exhibition of incredible skills with the ball.

Interesting with Diuof, obviously his bad boy attitude didn't do him any favours. On one hand Pele named him as one of the best to be alive. On the other Gerrard named him as one of the worst he's played with

Just checked, he was a non playing sub for Leeds when they won 3-1 at the Keepmoat 27th August 2013 in the League Cup.

Not sure about that but it was the game that Matt Smith bullied Rob Jones all evening.

I am surprised at Stocky giving credit to Wellens, I thought they didn't get on?

I suppose they don't need to get on to acknowledge that the other is/was a fantastic player.

Look at Andy Cole and Teddy Sheringham. They detested each other at United but played well and respected each other as players.

I like to see things like this at times. Always interesting to see how players see it over fans etc.

Similar to the Copps/Bale thing, he's played with Billy Sharp but says James Hayter is the best finisher.

It doesn't really surprise me him saying that Hayter was a better finisher than say Sharp or Heffernan, I'm inclined to agree with him.

Sharp & Heffernan were fantastic at finding space/being in the right place at the right time, but I remember them missing a lot of chances, especially Sharp. Hayter never scored as many but I don't recall him missing chances like those two, partly because he didn't have their movement or knack of being in the right place at the right time, and partly because he was less selfish and more likely to drop deep.

I'd put Stocky in the hall of fame Mark. Along with Stevie Lister he is one of the two the most graceful players I've ever seen in red and white. Stocky made that team tick right from the start. Once he got Wellens alongside him we had a midfield to drool over. Stocky's in my top five all time Rovers. So that's decided then :):):) Lol

If Jason Price can get in, Stock's a certainty.

I'd love to see Stock involved with us if he is any good at coaching. I think he went many years unappreciated he was just so efficient on the ball and he had a bit of everything. Wellens was a better player but didn't have the pace to make him succeed higher up. Green had the fitness but not the ability. Stock had a bit of all qualities Burnley got him after his peak we saw his best.

I'm not sure you  get unappreciated from Sammy, I don't think I remember barely a bad word about him.
His only problem was injuries. Without those he would never have played for us.

Tend to agree with Sammy although he has never received the bad mouthing he doesn't seem to get mentioned often
The entire team that won at Wembley should be in hall of fame by default

Disagree,as great as that side was you can't go around putting every promotion winning team in the hall of fame.. Individuals for important goals or records potentially but not a full side.

He never really got any stick but he was so reliable we just took it as normal when he played well. Mark Wilson was another, maybe not as good as Stock but when he was in the side he was a tidy player and didn't waste the ball much. Spicer and Shiels were unlucky at that time both were decent players. Heffernan definitely was wasted under Sean.

Aye Wilson (well known as one of my favourite players) got a lot of stick because of SOD's propensity for bringing him on late for a striker to sure things up, and because he did nothing fancy despite being an ex-Man Utd player people expected more. But Willo did a good job of the simple stuff you need to do in holding midfield, much like Keegan has done as his successor.

Always remember Mark Wilson's performance at Hillsborough the night Elliott Ward scored 'that' goal. He was a very under appreciated player.

RoversAlias hit the nail on the head but I think Wilson probably suffered as he wasn't quite on the level of Stock and Wellens at that point. He was never a player to spray the passes around.
