No really mouthwatering clashes so far. usual predictable local ones. Enjoyed Motherwell a couple of years ago, at least a bit different...

So if Iam correct its Sheff weds ,chesterfield ,Gainsborough trinaty ,and two local former pit teams that escape me .

Oh and derby county .

At least all theses games are played in the U.K. ,as I still can't get it round my head that DRFC are playing with idea of going out to Thailand in the future for a ore season

Guiseley as well.
A fifteen minute drive for me. They have a great club house as well.

has the penny dropped that one or two Rovers players might go on loan there later in the season

Now you mention club house

When rovers played that top of the table game at torquay some years back and there was shit loads from donny at game as away end was rammed as was the away seats.

Sure rovers lost the game .

During the second half we left the ground and went into torquays club bar that was under one of their stands .must have been a good 25 mins left on the torquay v rovers game .

When we walked into the club we was all shocked on how busy the club was as it was 3/4 packed with only sky sports updates on the tvs.

After we got talking to a few inside that was on the lash aswell ,it turned out that they was not really torquay united fans but allways kept an eye on their scores but they was local torquay lads and lasses of all ages all from the near by housing around the ground.

That club at torquay must be taking in shit loads of money going on its day time trade while the home team were still paying their game out on the pitch above.

Anybody wanting fish an chips before or after the Guiseley game, the original Harry Ramsdens is about 300 yards down the main Rd. from the ground.
It's now a Wetherby Whaler though.

I suppose Rovers will play a couple of trialists in that match ... false beards and moustaches

...  "disguisely"  is the name of the game

I am assuming that is a pun that no one has picked up on as Dave Penney is assistant manager to Adam Lockwood at Guiseley? :clapping:

The T&A in Bradford last week named the Guiseley manager as DANNY Lockwood.
Doesn't anybody check these stories?

Chesterfield have a cracking real ale pub next street up from the away end on the top road. Packed solid last time I went to the saturday game there. Well worth a trip before the match, loads of hand pumps.

I think the Gainsborough game is a development squad, so Beestin, Longbottom, Fielding, etc.

That might make that game a good one to go to then, to see how good the lads look after a full pre season.

I lost interest in pre season friendliest years ago. The number of times that I had my hopes raised by a few good pre season results only for us to have a terrible season.

Only thing that i look out for on PSF games is trialists etc. Although its rare we even sign them, I think mostly its just made up of players we have no interest in signing filling the team whilst keeping themselves fit at the same time.

Torquay's social club is called the Boots n Laces , been there myself, once saw a brilliant " The Commitments " style act in there on a weekend away, same weekend we ordered pizza delivered to the digs/hotel and Ginner ate 2 whole 12 inch pizzas on top of 2 gallons best bitter
