The winner will get their place in Rovers history... The loser will be transferred to hell... I mean Barnsley

Don't recall seeing much bickering, just debate and opinion. Both are good players but for me if I had to choose, it would be Houghton but, McCullough goes nowhere!

Both very good with just one major difference...Houghton has consistency week in and week out...Luke has yet to show that...

Houghton by far, better touch/control, tackle, speed, passing/vision...

There is no way even before Lukes injury anyone raved about a player with as much potential as they have Houghton?..

I have voted for Jordan however Luke is a more than capable back up.

The facts at the moment though is that Jordan is not our player. If for whatever reason he does not come on board then I am more than happy to see Luke starting in the CDM role, but wouldn't it be great to have both!! Happy days!

Luke McCullough will be really happy if he sees this thread and was considered second best by everyone.

I am sure that to be a professional footballer you need a certain level of mental toughness that I am sure Luke possesses. So I expect that he wouldn't give two hoots what peoples opinions are.

Luke McCullough was signed as a defender, not a defensive midfielder. Jordan, however, is a midfielder through and through and could play anywhere in our midfield so therefore offers so much more.

Luke was originally a defender, yes i agree.
However many of us stated that he would be a great DM player and just before his injury he played a few games there and got rave reviews.
Almost a year after injury he came back into the team and got more good reviews with one exception as far as i can remember and that was the last game.
Obviously Houghton made the position his own up to his injury.

I really rate Luke in the holding role in midfield but my point is that should be the only position in the team - it's holding midfield or nowhere. The lad is not big enough for centre back & he's not quick enough to be a full back

Why not play them both in a 3 2 3 2

Luke McCullough will be really happy if he sees this thread and was considered second best by everyone.

If this thread, reasonably stating that he is not as good as Houghton having played 5 games in his career at holding midfield, makes him upset then he has no business being a footballer because he'll receive much, much worse flak in his career. He already will have in fact.

Get luke back to being a center half too slow to play in midfield even the holding roll

Its Houghton all day long, he has only had limited "big boys" football experience and excelled here so his potential is possibly unlimited.

It's a none argument.
Houghton is not our player and he's injured. For those reasons it's McCullough every time

I agree Luke would be in my starting 11 in the holding position - a good preseason behind him & being fit will do him world of good

Well the season will start with McCullough and I don't think many people will be unhappy with that.

When and IF Houghton gets fit and re-signs, he'll have to fight for the shirt.

The title of the thread made me chuckle. As if a vote will end all bickering! All it will achieve, like all other English polls nowadays, is those of the majority opinion will be called fools by the 'more informed' minority!

He's very good at playing the holding role in midfield and will only get better.
