Hopefully he'll make a full recovery and come-back. It doesn't sound pleasant according to the NHS:

Most people with Guillain-Barré syndrome make a full recovery, but this can take months or even years.

Some people won't make a full recovery and are left with long-term problems such as:
•being unable to walk without assistance
•weakness in your arms, legs or face
•numbness, pain or a tingling or burning sensation
•balance and co-ordination problems
•extreme tiredness

It's a rapid onset condition and in most cases is triggered by an infection. As an underlying condition it's hard to diagnose I believe?

Markus Babbel had it at Liverpool IIRC and made a recovery to continue playing, not sure how long he was out for though.

Just went to a wedding with some of my missus' friends, they are all pharmacists/doctors/medical professionals. All were very concerned when I discussed the disease/syndrome. My missus as first hand experience of a patient dying from this. I think Alex is very lucky to have a mild version of this and I wish him all the best in his recovery/management of his health.

Should have tested ATS for this with him displaying a few of these symptoms! 😉

Let's hope Kiwomya pulls through ok.
