Running rings round Southend since 2008.

Would love to that piece of skill early in the second half (I think) when he took 2 players out.

Genius.

Terrific display today, his set piece delivery was on point and he managed to be our attacking heartbeat I thought. He can't play like this every week but we're still getting some vintage displays out of him and long may it continue.

Went close from the free kicks unlucky not to score from them.

Vintage Coppinger today and my Man of the match too.  Says it all when somebody gets a hatrick and Copps is still MoM.

Scourge of Saafend on more than one occasion! Some sublime touches and wonderful skill, dancing around them making them look like trees - he's still a great player and we'll miss him when he finally hangs up his ballet shoes!

Wonder if copps plans to stay within football when he hangs his boots up and if so will any doors be pulled open for him at DRFC ?

There can't be that many clubs out there today that still have a servant still on the books and getting game time after so many years.

Hopefully he'll get a job within the academy set up which will offer him stability for a few years and the chance to get as many coaching badges as he wants.

I wouldn't want him to end up as first team manager given that it's a results business and after a few bad results, some people would probably be calling for him to be sacked.

After his service to the club he deserves better than that.

Don't know why, when we are in shooting distance, does anyone but Copps take the free kicks, he was superb today with them and unlucky not to score with the one that hit the bar for Whitemans first goal.

That piece of skill was worth the entrance fee alone, brilliant.

Dunno about Andy Williams but I'd probably let Coppinger shag my wife.

Coppinger has more finesse and skill but Williams knows how to score more often.

On balance, probably Copps for his fine golden locks.

He left the field as if we wouldn't see him play for us again, obviously to a great accolade.

Top man and class player.
Copps keeps on proving to the doubters that he can keep performing.

Yep finally we have a free kick n he hits it rather than piss about tip tapping it around box. That one at arsenal was ideal to be hit.  The bloke can hit a dead ball just wish he would do it more

He is my absolute hero.

I am just enjoying watching Copps for as long as possible, and surely he has plenty of time left when you look at that performance today.

Wasn't there a thread on here a few years ago about him and his family emigrating to Australia once he retired from football, as his wife is a nurse and she wanted to work abroad in sunnier climes. Wonder if she still works at DRI, although don't the Coppingers live up Middlesborough way, be a hell of a trek for her to get to work.

He also had one in the first half that the keeper managed to tip round the post.
Don't forget that the ones that he "tip taps" will be planned moves and under instruction.

Both excellent efforts and hope to see more of them, but the one in the first half was going wide before the keeper got a touch.

He is from Guisborough but I have been told he lives in Fishlake. Don't know for a fact but he will not be travelling from Guisborough every day, that's for sure. 88 miles to the Keepmoat.

He does live up towards Middlesbrough, at the evening event they did with him last season after his 500th appearance he told some stories about the drive down to training as he used to car share with Rob Jones and Billy Paynter when they were here. The Sky Sports feature about him around the same time also showed his house up there and went on about him living in a caravan while they built it. 90 mile drive each way isn't that bad when you're only in work for about 3 hours. I'd hazard a guess he's not in every day either!

Copps did live in Fishlake but moved back to Guisborough five or six years ago.

Aye, Paynter sold him that car and they went about six months without realising the MOT ran out.

It is almost that journey time for DF from Stamford.

I bet lots of our players have similar travel time to get to work.
