although don't the Coppingers live up Middlesborough way, be a hell of a trek for her to get to work.

Lives up my way, back up near home town of Guisborough
He is from Guisborough but I have been told he lives in Fishlake. Don't know for a fact but he will not be travelling from Guisborough every day, that's for sure. 88 miles to the Keepmoat.

Copps did live in Fishlake but moved back to Guisborough five or six years ago.

It is almost that journey time for DF from Stamford.

I bet lots of our players have similar travel time to get to work.

Lots of normal people do too. Fact of modern life, go where the work is.

I may be in a minority but I believe that players should be required to live within a certain radius of the training ground of the club which they play for.

I can't see the positive health benefits of travelling several miles most days of the week, then training for two hours with maybe a gym session in the afternoon, before a long journey back home.

Sports science has never been better and players more than ever are required to be at peak fitness. Would there be an extra 1% edge to be gained by having the entire squad live within a 25 mile radius or 30 minute drive, as opposed to two hours or 100 miles away?

What about the costs of selling your house every two or three years.
Have you thought about uprooting the kids from school every two or three years.

It's only 90 mins from Guisborough to Cantley, quicker if you like to go over 70mph ;)

A 90 min drive is going to take the edge off for most people.
Maybe Copps is one of the few that it doesn't affect.
On the other hand how good or I will re phrase that how much better still, may he have been or would be if he lived locally?

I think Copps is the exception; most players do live locally and/or have a "normal" commute. And even if it takes them an hour in a morning, normal folk do that for an 8-12 hour shift, not 4 hours (max) that players have to do. If an hour's commute messes them up for training or a game, they need to give their head a shake.

Which of the two would she prefer RedJ?

Given the fact that he's known as "tripod" I think Copps would get the nod every time!

I think he is probably our greatest ever player. He will be talked about forever. A true great  who will have stands named after him, statue the full works. I still think he can do another 2 seasons yet if looked after.

Well, that 'Spirit of Doncaster' statue outside the stadium is just begging to be reworked into a James Coppinger tribute.

It's already half way there to the pose from Copps when he was lifted aloft by his teammates at Morecambe!

James coppinger is a total legend. Absolute joy to watch and irreplaceable imo! Me and my boys love watching him boss the midfield. It will be a very sad day when he does hang up his boots!! 2 more seasons would be great if you're up for it Jimmy!!! ⚽️👍😀
