Fastest hat trick?
« on October 07, 2017, 08:29:27 pm by RoversAlias »
Have we had a faster hat trick scored in our history than Whiteman's today? Managed it in 10 minutes, must be the fastest in my time going but wondered if anyone knew of a quicker one by Rovers over the years?

Somebody get the Dutch Signal in the sky, we need a statting!

I know James Hayter scored what was at the time the fastest hat trick in history when he was at Bournemouth. Obviously he would eventually be a Rovers player so it's not quite the same, but still.

David Jones away at Rochdale I think?

Think Lee Turnbull in his first spell also produced in double quick time.

Not sure either beat 11 minutes though.

Yes, I was also thinking of Leo v Orient. Was it 5-0?

Neville Chamberlain v Preston 1988 was very quick. From memory about 7 minutes. Will check.

Always wondered what he did after he stopped being Prime Minister.

I think Leo's hattrick was in 12 minutes (goals scored at minutes 6,14,18)

Goal times are not available before ca 1992 so a definitive answer is not possible, but Ben's must be a contender for Rovers fastest

Mind you he has some way to beat the quickest hattrick by a player who has played for Rovers - 140 seconds by James Hayter for Bournemouth as an 84th minute substitute against Wrexham in 2004

When I asked on Twitter during the game the only response I got was someone mentioning Chamberlain. Didn't realise he was Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's uncle! If that one was around 7 minutes it will surely be the record then.

Ian Miller vs Newport 1975 ,we won 5-1 ,it was 1-0 with 10 minutes to go. Perhaps it's another one for Dutch Uncle or The Red Baron to investigate

Did anyone else notice who brought the ball out of the Wrexham defence just before the hat trick goal?.
A certain Darren Ferguson.

Who was it who came off the bench to score a quick hat trick against Rotherham in the county cup years ago. We trailed 2-0 when he came on and many fans had already left.

Think Nev Chamberlain scored a very quick hattrick against PNE circa 1987 - he was about to be substituted by Lee Turnbull then banged in 4'3 goals in quick succession

Felt that Whiteman was robbed in a way - the ball he got his hatrick with ended up over the Stand lol

Ian Miller had scored the first half goal before completing his hatrick with two more in that 10 minute spell with Brendan O'Callaghan adding the other two. Newport also scored their goal during that 5 goal 10 minute finale.

Neville Chamberlain's goal times were 67, 69 and 75 so somewhere between 8-9 minutes. Slightly quicker than Whiteman.

Glenn Kirkwood scored three in ten minutes v Crook Town in the FA Cup in 1999.

I was going to say that until I realised it was not consecutive...cracking goals though from the wee man..."Weve got Ian Miller, Ian Miller on the wing..."

First FA Cup game I ever went to, that yet it never crossed my mind.

Looks like Chamberlain wins it anyway!

I was also thinking last night about midfielders bagging hat-tricks. The last one must’ve been McIndoe vs. Bristol Rovers?

Me too and he "famously" legged me over on the Pitch after his third prompted a Pitch invasion (which was not illegal at the time !)

I would have thought it has always been illegal for a player to leg a fan over.
