Scarborough have got Hyde in the 4th qualifying round this weekend.

Them away would be nice.

Someone relatively low down in non-league at our place, giving us the best possible chance of getting through to the next round, would be nice.

Yes and then another "weak" Team at home in Round 2 leading us to a possible lucrative Draw in Round 3

Big pay day and should be a target for us - but of course you cannot affect the actual Draw I concede

Gainsborough vs Harrogate Town in the final qualifying round looks a tasty one. Was always a good game when I used to report on Trinity.

Either of those would be a decent tie.

Will DF play a weakened team in the FA Cup with the league being our priority ?

I could not understand it (especially after The Emirates experience) if he did that.

We should go for the Third Round as a priority - get lucky in the Draw and go to Arsenal again or Man City or similar and coin it in.

Gate receipts might help the Club overall and /or go towards more Playing Staff

I've had a look at the fixtures and I think the lowest ranked team guaranteed to get through would be either Heybridge Swifts or Haringey Borough so that'll do.

I hope it's not Oldham away yet again.

Not really fussed who we get. Just hope it isn't another league one club. A non league side would be best. We want as much chance of progressing as possible.

A lower league club at home doesn't guarantee a victory though does it as we have found out in the past.
We have to give it our all whoever we play.

No, but it gives us a better chance. Certainly would be my preference.

The weekend of the 4th November, as we don't have to league fixture then. Could be fireworks.

It could be the first opportunity to play both Baudry and McCullough, following their return to training. Depends who we draw of course, but may also give a chance for some of our promising young lads.

The cynic in me says we'll draw Oldham or Plymouth away. I literally could not believe it when I received a text last season telling me we had in fact drawn Oldham in Round 1 again.

Hartlepool away will be easy just like last time we played them....

Many good memories of standing on the terracing at the Shay back in the sixties watching the Rovers.

Many good memories of standing on the terracing at the Shay back in the sixties watching the Rovers.

With the Speedway Track going round it there were Pallets in each corner on which the Groundsman put Turf so  the Players taking corners had to stand on them to take the kicks

And also the strangely coloured Double Decker Buses  up the hill at the back of the goal. Those were the days

I had forgotten about the pallets of grass wolfie.
One particularly good memory was going to a night match which we won 3-2 - King Alick got a couple.

I told a mate about the Pallets and he did not quite believe it - thinking I had a selective memory SO I went on line and researched enough to come up with a Newspaper that had Photos of the Pallets in place

Just did a quick search but failed to find BUT I did find these 2 Posts from an HTFC Forum which will do for now

what a great team that was spent many a Saturday night watching the dukes as a kid
but happy now to have a proper stadium and remember this removable football corners we had
watch many a footballer fluff taking corners from them
talked last year with Kevin keagan and he remembers doing that when he played for Scunthorpe
nick

Loved the corners, wooden pallets with turf on top. No wonder divots were kicked as often as the ball!
loved the speedway but glad when it moved.

Shildon, of the 9th tier Northern Premier League, are the lowest side left in the competition.

Haringey Borough and Heybridge are both in the 8th tier. I've been to watch Haringey's last two matches in the competition - they put out Welling United in the 2nd qualifying round - and I'd be wary of wishing for them; they've the sort of pace and strength going forward that'd worry our defence.

And Shildon are away at Guiseley in the next round on Saturday....

.... so Guiseley would be a good shout for me as it's local to my home and the company I work for are one of Guiseley's sponsors. My boss goes to all their games and is friends with the Directors, so it would be a good needle match for me!

Not to mention their recent sacking of Locky and DP!
