As has been pointed out, the car park is the closest one to the ticket office,it's also the one that pretty much everybody has used since the Keepmoat opened.. There is plenty of other areas to park to access the club shop and ticket office so it's not a problem to me that the club is using it as a revenue stream, thats good business...
however it is not good business to cheese of your own fans turning up to buy products for what the place was built for in the first place...This thread proves that a lot of people were unaware that this was now in operation...but I bet nobody is unaware you can buy a dna card or get a membership...It's all about communication for me..The club should try and get this quashed and use all there media outlets to make sure people are fully aware of this for the future...

There are signs as you drive into the car park, along with signs all across the car park.

If people can't read, that is their problem.

As a point it's the council who is the land owner as DRFC lease it from them. The car park has been let to the office occupants from Monday to Friday on week ends and match evenings it reverts to use by fans. The signs have been up for at least 6 months and are placed as pointed out in other posts at the entrance and through out the car park. This is no different to parking in any private car park you do so at your own risk.

Sorry but I'm with most of the others it's not a new thing and the signs are certainly quite clear.  I don't actually think we should be critical of the club looking for more revenue opportunities.  Though equally it probably wouldn't do much harm to wipe the first one off as a gesture on the basis that 2nd strike equals fine.

If anyone wondered, it was announced;

When you have a Leasehold, you own the property for the fixed period of the lease, then the ownership reverts back to the Freeholder

fair enough then I guess, but £100 is absolutely scandalous....You could go and nick a car, drive it off with no mot and insurance and get less than that according to Police interceptors lol

And that was the standard get out until recently, the charge had to be proportionate to the loss incured by the land owner. Even if the charge was £100 for the day, a 45 minute overstay charged at £100 is not proportianate

At the end of the day mediation by the club would not go amiss, and in the case of this gentleman and his wife would create goodwill.Parking fines will always be thought of as a scam by most motorists and course ill feeling.
in this case the driver on the day has been guilty of not being aware of the new signs and rules that cover this car park and has not been observant,or because of using the area before has just repeated what they have done before.
If the Rovers have any pull on this situation, they should sort it out for the supporter, and make announcements, and put it on the big screen at the next game.

They certainly cannot charge you £100. As a matter of interest what penalty charge is specified on the notice for unauthorised. parking.

The title of this thread has been amended by Forum Admin. We understand the OP has a point he wishes to make but the thread title, and the thread itself, could be dealt with better elsewhere.

Being ignorant is not really a good enough excuse - especially when there are signs in several places telling you you can't park there...

Ignorant is a bit strong, the bloke has a point in that for over a decade this car park has been used by and large by our supporters visiting the club to spend their money on the clubs match tickets, and at the club shop.
It has also been used by away supporters who catch the supporters bus in mid week to away matches, and this is one problem people may have in future if the fines thing and midweek parking restrictions is not addressed so everyone knows  to park in the other car parks.
I would have thought it quite easy for people who have always parked there for away matches to think it O.K. when it is now not,and therefore the club should make every effort to make sure they do,and I would expect them as a sign of goodwill, to make an effort to overturn any mistakes by supporters, who may be paying £50 in ticket and travel costs to watch them play, or as in this case buy tickets or purchase goods at the club shop.

Look on this as a financial transaction,a scam parking firm could possibly cost our club at least the price of a season ticket in the future so that they get £100.
Not a very good deal is it.
In fact if we did this kind of deal in a pub most people would think we were right pillocks.

  Ignorant is a bit strong

Is it? why? he didn't know the rule, therefore he was ignorant of them - and in another sense, he's also ignored the signs that state the punishment.

It isn't "for any reason" though is it? he's just come on kicking off at the club basically saying they're scum of the earth for something they haven't directly done and that he could have easily avoided falling foul of if he'd looked at the fairly obvious signage.

It's not a scam parking firm though is it.
Why should drfc get involved?
The guy was in the wrong
He was parked for 45 minutes
There are loads of signs telling you not to park
He has not stated that he is blind and could not see them
He is guilty of an offence
He should stop moaning
In fact it's interesting that he has not posted today
Maybe it has finally sunk in

Seeing  as fans on coaches, were told that they could only use car parks 2 and 3 i doubt any tickets were issued.

Just google parking eye theres plenty out there about them

so you drive into that car park to collect your tickets theres nothing to stop you thinking the same signs have  been put up in all car parks, I don't know but are there big signs telling non permit holders to park in car parks 2 or 3 ????????? equally as big as the Parking Eye permit holder  signs?

Some seem to be forgetting over 10 years people have parked in car park 1 its yet again its an own goal through lack of communication and not hammering it on the website twitter etc

As someone else said make all those office employees park in it and stop them parking on the inner circle!

As I said earlier there is a very simple solution  exactly the same as used by this lot in supermarkets etc  a terminal in the reception areas that these office  workers log there car on   you start to type your reg in and a pretty picture of your reg plate and vehicle come up  it asks is this you  you hit the yes button, you are now booked on this site for today/week it takes seconds
Then as we all know the car parks never full in the weekdays (although perhaps if they were all made to park there instead of on the inner ring .................. ) so you then have a limit for visitors whether it be 30/45/60 minutes or whatever

It boils down to the  usual not enough communication or thought lets instigate the first brainwave we have

Things have changed with regards to these kinds of fines, as Filo has pointed out. You're much less likely to get away with it if you ignore it.

Pretty sure the quite large sign says in big letters something like use car park two.
