Over 100 appearances since we rejoined the FL...
« on November 18, 2017, 10:36:34 pm by anne honemous »
To lighten the mood on here, even though a draw at Fleetwood isn't a bad result, there are over 50 Rovers players who have made five appearances or less for us since we got back in the Football League.

Be prepared for some proper  :turd:  from years gone by.

Can you recognise the players by photos?

Here's number one; although to be fair, this fella was that poor he wouldn't even be first choice in Billy Bungle's pub team.

Once it's guessed by someone, I'll put the next one up.

My guess was going to be Seremet. Wasn't he in goal for one of our big cup wins in 2005?

It's not Seremet but he's on the list with two appearances.

Stuart Jones? He was Andy Warrington's under study in 2004/05

Correct.

The next one should be a little more obvious...

As straightforward as possible.

Next, one of the few players who was actually decent in terms of the career he had elsewhere.

Lucas Neill?

Too easy.

It's fair to say this next player was an experiment... and the conclusion of the experiment was that he was pretty awful.

My first thought was Mamadou Bagayoko.

My first thought was Mamadou Bagayoko.

Bagayoko, from memory, mustered up a few more appearances and was absolutely brilliant one game, then absolutely useless in the next game. He was still one of the better players during that dreadful period in our history though.

I think it is too. Looks like the KC in the background and Hull away is the only place I remember him playing.

I wanted to know how many times these players each played for us as well! Surprised Parking played so few. I do remember Bamogo playing in a home game, he was poor.

Bagayoko was a lanky fellow with longer hair I believe, scored twice at Elland Road didn't he? No mean feat.

He looked a proper handful did Bagayoko.

I'll never forgot when he got taken off but Diouf had to go and tell him because he couldn't speak English.

Bamogo is correct.

Next up is a relatively easy one as he only played last season for us.

Joe Pugh?

Correct - one appearance in the Checky Chegwin trophy last season.

Next up, a guy who gave us all nightmares in his three appearances for the club.

Di Piedi?

All his appearances came under Mickey Walker as well I think.

Di Piedi.

He made one appearance against Port Vale, which was on Sky Sports for some reason. It was also the game where Lewis Guy got his bad reputation from, as he dived late on to win a penalty - something which was noticed by thousands watching on TV, but not the referee.

No wonder he never won f*ck all else for us.

Anyway, I'll raise you a one game wonder from SOD's tenure, watched closely in this photo by Paul Keegan...

Ryan Burge is correct.

He had a brilliant impact in that game as we lost 6-0 - our biggest home defeat since playing at the Keepmoat.

Whilst I go and source some images of old players in our kit, here's a simple one to keep things ticking over...

Baxendale is correct.

He got a small handful of games under SOD at the start of the 2011-12 season and had we not gone down the route of experimenting, I reckon he'd have gone on to become a regular for us.

Next up, this guy...
