If we lose at Oxford...
« on December 06, 2017, 03:31:04 pm by anne honemous »
... then will our Jekyll & Hyde nature of going from one extreme to another in our performances, have become more of a home and away thing?

Since losing to Shrewsbury way back in September, only Walsall have beat us on home soil and that was down to a total capitulation when otherwise we were in a good position at half time.

However, we've only won one of our last five league games on the road and the performance at Wigan was undoubtedly our worst 90 minute display of the season.

I'd be pleasantly surprised if we do pick up anything at Oxford as they're a good team chasing the play-offs, but if we have turned a corner then I take comfort in the fact we have three home league games to get points from before the New Year and that could finally proper us up the table towards where I think we'll finish.

We are not going to lose be positive man.  Talk of losing should be banned from this club then it might rub off on the team or I hope

Are oxford chasing the play offs ?

Eight points outside of the top six and only seven from the bottom four.
They are closer to the drop zone.

If we were to beat them we would only be a point behind them.

But what if we do perform really well but don't get the rub of the green or the odd bad decision goes against us! The performance could remain the same as the Scunny game but the result might not! But that's football for you!!

I think Oxford are one of the teams outside the play-off pack giving it a good go.

It's certainly not an easy game and if we get a point, I'd be very happy with it. But, if we do lose, then I really wonder whether it's a home/away problem we then have, rather than Jekyll & Hyde performances.

We'll see what happens...

The forum is a much quieter place when we're doing well, over the last 10 games we've been good.

It's nothing to do with home or away, it's to do with consistency. So far, last Sunday and maybe the Blackburn away league game are the only 2 games where we have been consistent throughout the 90 minutes, never mind on a game to game basis.

Agreed that the forum is quieter when we dont lose, but to say we have been good over the last ten games is not quite right is it.
Scunny - FACup - excellent
Rochdale - Checka Cup -average
MKDons - shocking first half
Wigan - shocking most of the game
Fleetwood - average
Rotherham - shocking first half
Ebsfleet - good performance, as you would expect against a team like Ebsfleet
Scunny - Checka Cup - average
Bury - average- but at least managed to win
Walsall - well the least said about that game the better.

TBF, there are signs that things are improving though.
