Whiteman worry?
« on December 09, 2017, 09:27:32 am by since-1969 »
The Blunts are in a bit of a poor run , they could even drop to 6th today if results go the wrong way . My concern is the January window could see the looking at their squad and Whiteman may be come into their thinking .

Hasn't it already been said that they want him to stay all season?

Edit:  even more in the DFP today..

The Blades need a replacement for Coutts. I don't think Whiteman fits that particular bill.

I'm sure I read they are wanting to sign Ryan Leonard from Southend as a replacement for Coutts.

He's not yet good enough for a team aiming for the top 6 in the Championship.

He's barely been good enough for us at times. Potential but lots of work to do.

I genuinely don't realise he's playing half the time.

But then I'm sure he's meant to be playing further forward, and we're using him as a holding player.

He's better than us, put him with a better manager and you will see a big difference.

Well yes because a better manager would use him how he's meant to be used rather than try and shoehorn him in...

Bit like Rowe and more broadly the entire team - some games is match winner and other games entirely invisible. No consistency.

He's a centre midfielder and that's where he's playing.
Not like he's playing left back is it

Yeah and he's totally anonymous most of the time, yet when he does get forward he goes and scores or makes something happen. Funny, that.

Well then he should maybe have a look at himself, I don't recall him making much happen other than 2 games. When houghton is playing he is pushed on

Well, I'd stick him up front, but no one listens to me.

No one listens to me either B.B. we have a forward that is our best young striker with goals to matches since Peter Kitchen, and he does not even get on the pitch, never mind trying a O.K. midfielder up front.

Whiteman was excellent v Scunny in the midfield role without Houghton.

Whilst the team struggle with consistency, then I guess it puts extra pressure on players rather than being able to play with freedom and confidence.

The best I’ve seen Whiteman for us has been in the “Houghton” role.

Not great, not bad, will  be decent at this level when he gets experience.
Unfortunetley we are the team that are providing his training ground, and like at Oxford when he did not close down their goalscorer we suffer.
He was  blowing out of his backside in the last 10 minutes last week.
He has a long way to go to play any higher than he is at the moment.

Better than his replacement

Whiteman was very poor, Beestin was poor, Mandeville was Mandeville and Kongolo as you say was no better. We need better inthe transfer window.

Whiteman is not being played in a good position for him, and frankly anyone playing in that Diamond has no chance. Poor formation that pretty much never works but he keeps going back to it.

We have to change it sooner or later.

I agree with Alan. Whiteman wasn't good today but he did improve loads in the second half and actually put a couple of challenges in. Beestin didn't offer enough to be considered a serious threat and Mandeville, quite frankly, probably puts in more effort taking his dog for a walk.

Doesn’t really fit the system he was played in today.

I was surprised when Beestin was left on and Whiteman taken off, simply because I thought that Beestin had looked tired most of the second half.
Mandeville was told to stay up field by the manager, no doubt to try and stop Oldham from putting more men forward.
