I’d completely agree with that Billy. Warboys was superb for us. After he’d retired I thought that we’d got a like for like replacement in Alan Brown but fate cursed us again.




Alan Warboys is in my top 5 all time Rovers heroes. He and Alan Little were the rocks that the 1980/81 side was built around. The mesters who made it possible for the younger players to achieve.

Ernie Moss didnt do too bad for us either after Warboys. Both top old fashioned centre forwards.
Last of a breed we haven’t really seen the likes of since. Allan Brown, Paul Barnes, Leo Fortune West.
Chris Brown, John Marquis ets etc were/are a bit different.
None had the heading ability of those two.
