He kept Oldham up from almost certain relegation last season (I think it was last season, maybe the year before) but hasn't seemed to replicate that elsewhere. I don't think it's a good appointment by Fleetwood but time will tell.

In that case it may turn out that he helps keep Oldham up afterall.

Can't stand the bloke. I can't forget some very disparaging remarks  that he made about the Rovers when we were under SOD.
Fleetwood seem to think that he is the man to save them, though:

That sounds like a good match. The effort that lad put in when Coppinger turned him for the third goal has only ever been matched in "couldn't give a shite"-ness by Sheridan's performance at Morecambe in 1998.

In fact, I've just had a look on his Wikipedia page for his stats whilst with us.

It says: Played: 7 Shites given: 0

Didn't you say that at Walsall Billy that two of their goals were the result of our midfield players showing the same level of commitment?  Apologies if I have got that wrong.

They were bone idle at Walsall, but not in the Sheridan At Morecambe league. The only person I’ve ever seen put in as little effort as him that night was him the week before and the week after.

I was at that game, Billy. It was a midweek match, and the Rovers played in black and white. We won 2-1, with goals from Glenn Kirkwood and Mark Hume. I think Dave Penney played, but I'm not sure, and you're right, John Sheridan was an absolutely idle tw*t all night.

Cheers Billy, I didn't see him at Morecombe but remember possibly losing 0-1 at home to Forest Green, I think when we had a fantastic midfield on paper. Sheridan barely moved and I think got subbed and left soon after.

I think of the lot, clearly Nicol was by far the best. Tommy Wright at least put in a real shift. Newell just looked constantly perplexed that it had all come to this, and Sheridan could not be arsed. Then there was Peter Beardsley....

Steve Nicol was a true professional as well as a fabulous defender.

He was atrocious for us, what made it worse was that he went and pulled trees up for Oldham after he played at our place. Could have slightly excused him if his legs had completely gone.

Jono Forte in a 2-0 defeat at Bournemouth. Reminded me of when an Everton fan at Highbury jumped the barrier to swap shirts with Alex Nyarko.

I forgot that ever happened, quite something really. He immediately asked to be substituted and left the club a few days later! Surprised he was ever able to run around a football field without a spine.

best player i've ever seen in a rovers shirt - and a sight better than a lot of others in different strips, an' all...
