20th birthday issue of the fanzine, now sold out
« on April 04, 2018, 02:11:00 pm by VivaRovers »
Hope the mods won't mind, as all profits do go to local charities, but just wanted to give this a thread of it's own.

Because of the raft of postponed games the latest edition of popular STAND fanzine is available only at Gillingham, or via post.

Wherever you are in the world we'll send you a copy for just the usual £1 plus postage.

Order a fanzine.

Already had an encouraging 30+ orders, but that's someway down on the near 300 we'd usually sell on a matchday, so if you enjoy the 'zine please do order a copy.

A great read, as always. I would encourage as many people as possible to order this copy of the zine 'the 20 Year commemorative issue.
For those who weren't around or are not old enough to remember season 1998, it is an excellent insight. For those who were around, it is a trip down an unpleasant memory lane with the comfort of knowing it all works out well in the end...sort of.

Cheers Jon and TFE.

Had 50+ orders now and most are in the post. Would certainly welcome more.

Also, if you have ordered make sure you check your email for payment details as, for quite obvious reasons, I won't send out a copy before payment is received.

Good to put a face to a name today Glen. Pity the game was shite, however a fair result.

Thanks Glen. Just read my copy and it's a top read as always.  I sometimes forget just how desperate those times were during the 97/98 season. As a club we're a million miles away from the '98 version and, whilst we should look forward not back, it doesn't hurt to be reminded how much better off we are today than 20 years ago !

Just an update on the latest fanzine issue. I've managed to shuffle my work calendar around and find something approaching affordable trains north in order to be able to sell this issue at the Bury home game on Tuesday 17 April.

Apologies to those who've paid out for a post order who could've bought in person at this match, but I genuinely didn't think I'd be able to make any of this month's home games until now. Hope you understand.

For anyone who has made an order, but not yet paid, if you would rather buy at that match than go through with your order then not a problem, just drop me an email to let me know so I'm not chasing you for payment unnecessarily.

Again, apologies for mixed messages over the last month, but getting this issue out has been an absolute nightmare.

And lastly, thanks for the kind comments above. I'm really happy with this issue - think it may genuinely be the best we've put out - so glad to see it going down so well.

I'm hoping to be there Glen so I'll buy some for City supporting mates in Bradford. If I end up blobbing I'll order some by post.

Hi Glen. I will take 5 if you can spare them. I'll be passing the statue between 7-7:15 if you a are there. No worries if I can't have that many, see you later, Dave

No one outside the main reception tonight, Glen? I'll have to make a note to remind myself to walk round to the statue if so as I might forget otherwise.

Not only were we finally able to sell issue 93 - our 20 year birthday edition - at a home game last night, but we also sold out too.

All 400 copies now gone. Huge thanks to all who have bought one for your patience and understanding.

Do please give us your feedback on it once you've read it.

Well done Glen. I'm really enjoying it and have about 4 pages left to read.
Dark days that will never be forgotten by those that were there.
Problems that stress some fans now are a walk in th park compared with those days.

Another good issue, professionally put together as usual.

Not a criticism, but an observation, the tone in recent issues seems to have been more factual/opinion based, with less humour than in the past. Not sure if that's a deliberate change in emphasis?

I was surprised to see you selling the fanzine immediately AFTER the match at the main Car Park entrance Glen - credit due to you!

I hope you didn't miss our 4th goal....!

Glad you enjoyed it, and yeah that's a fair observation.

It's not a deliberate shift, as I don't ever dictate what our contributors send in, so largely how light-hearted an issue is, comes down to what  I get sent in. A couple of writers who tend to write lighter stuff either haven't been able to write for us lately for a variety of reasons so that can lead to the 'zine being seen as less humorous as a result.

In terms of this particular issue - we had such great stuff relating to 1997-98 - from Liam and the bits with Adie Mike and David Esdaille - that I had to drop a couple of our regular lighter features to make room. This is because we can't have more than 40 pages or the staples tend to fail. These aspects will be back in, in issue 94.

Excellent read, it certainly brought back some memories....not great ones but ones that make you appreciate the last success of the last 15 years!

Belated thanks Glen, great issue. Desperate times and obviously those moaning at the current state of affairs have short memories.  Onwards and upwards..................
