The 1980-81 promotion side where are they now?
« on April 08, 2018, 08:56:03 pm by selby »
Is a full page article in the Football League Paper this morning. features a full team photograph, and pen pictures of what has happened to them since their time with us.
It makes very interesting reading, and happily many have gone on to be very successful in later life, for instance,
Pat Lally  Is the director of education for the footballers association.
Dave Bradley   runs a successful network marketing business in Ohio USA
Des Bennett  now runs DB90 prestigious automobiles
David Cork played in Australia and lectures in sport for central sports management
Shaun Flanagan runs his own lumberjack business in British Columbia Canada
Mark Shipley spent 20 years as regional manager for the England squad, and then north development officer for pentathlon GB, and now coaches squash
Ian Nimmo owns his own driving school in Boston
Alan Little now lives in Spain
Russ Wilcox head of recruitment at Doncaster Rovers
Ian Nimmo is interviewed about what it was like to play for Billy Bremner, who along with John Dowie has unfortunately passed away since them heady days.
Some of our older fans will find it interesting, and if someone more computer literate than myself maybe able to copy and post on here for people to share.

Selby, you have reminded me of something here.
I once played for a team which was managed by Pat Lally.
In his first training session one of the lads kept calling him “Do”,
and he had to ask why?

I remember Shaun Flanagan not long after this season becoming a glazer for a window company.

Anybody know if Ian Nimmo is related to Willie Nimmo, who played for us as goalkeeper in the 1960's?

Great article & a few names I'd totally forgotten ! Good quote from Nimmo too about Billy Bremner " he was a typical Jock"   :) :)

I doubt it, Wiltshire; Ian was born in Boston, Willie was Scottish. I was also surprised to know that Willie died in 1991, aged only 57.

Do the Scottish only breed in Scotland? 😀

Ian was definitely not related to Willie Nimmo, yes Ian was from Boston and lived with his Wife in Cantley whilst at Rovers.
Ian's mum and dad used to attend the majority of Rovers Home and Away games and were great supporters of DRFC

Sorry for appearing ignorant, Herman, but you'll have to explain that one to me.
