The SOD to Burnley Saga, the real reason he stayed
« on February 09, 2010, 09:25:55 am by muff licker »
I've been informed that it wasn't only Compensation that prevented SOD from Taking over at Burnley, but the fact he wasn't able to pick his own backroom staff.
The club had recently offered Graham Alexander a Coaching position and SOD said he wanted his own 'coaching team' to follow him, but Burnley were adamant that Alexander stayed, and SOD decided if this was a sign of things to come then 'No Thanks'.

Just goes to show SOD practises what he preaches about Teamwork and Loyalty, after all he could have said, ' I don't like it but i'll be managing in the PL' - BUT he stook to his guns, and as they say its all history now.

Sorry if it has been mentioned previously but thought i would share the info.

I heard something similar at the time, more along the lines of what we would change, but staff was part of it.

I have it on good authority (read it on here) that the real reason he stayed was because Brian Laws was first choice...
