What clinched the deal was gazza turning up at stockys with his fishing rod, some sarnies, a party pack of lager and a dressing gown. Apparently Gazza is a lifelong friend of Stocky

The question is though if it was true, would it be a good bit of business by rovers?

No i don't really want him to go as i believe he is the sort of player we need to keep to show how we are determined to keep progressing.........................however

we bought him for £150,000 and selling him for £3.5m mmmmmmmm it is questionable i agree

but we have oster when fit, gillette knows a good pass as do woods and we coped without him for most of last season, plus payne could show his potential and the club will have covered any budget losses in one quick go for this year.

Ok it would mean we would be short in the middle but remeber that SOD still has his apparent £1.8m to spend which would fetch in a quality midfielder and striker for the sort of cash he has never had the pleasure in spending before

food for thought peopl, food for thought

I think Stock is one of the most tactically aware players I have seen in my 30 years of watching DRFC, if I had a daughter old enough he would be welcome to marry her, I would put him up there with the man who invented pizza as my favourite all time person but we would have to seriously think about 3.5 million ( however unreliable the source) asmuch as I would hate to see him in another teams shirt, we could seriously strengthen will that kind of money

It seems that NUFC don't intend to splash the cash this year.

Financial reasons are being cited for reduced player investment at St James' Park this season, with owner Mike Ashley keen to bring down the club's reliance on overdrafts in the coming years.

The statement added: \"The club presented its financial report to Companies House this April for the year 2008-2009.
\"The financial report shows that there was an operating loss of £37.7m for that year and an estimated loss for 2009-2010 of £32.5m.

\"Newcastle United also has an overdraft of £20m that is fully committed.
