beware though, it does say \"new\" somewhere in the article, so i assume it's only for bringing friends who aren't already on the system. i don't know this for definite of course, i can just see the thread already complaining about the ticket office....

Yes- what do they mean by \"a new friend?\" Someone I've only met in the last two or three months perhaps?

So I can't bring an old friend who doesn't often go to a footy match?

Joking aside, I'm all in favour of whatever it takes to get more bums on seats. But for the Preston game, which may be something like a Cup Final, we need plenty of atmosphere and noise. Dare I say it, we need to make the Keepmoat intimidating. Let's have a think how we can do that. A thousand or so extra fans who come to a game once in a blue moon won't automatically improve the atmosphere.

Could Gartom have a word with JR to get him back in the SS again? It'd be nice to have him there on final day (well last home game) too to be honest.

i went to see Birmingham City v Bolton on saturday, 'so what?' you may ask.

well, they had a similar offer on- friend of season ticket holder, or previous buyer of occasional ticket- only a fiver.

still think it's too expensive? as a customer of theirs [renting training facilities at the club], i got a pair of free tickets, as did my mates at work.

the result was a packed stadium, intimidating atmosphere, lots of noise and a win which moved them up from 19th to 15th, and may just have ensured their Premier League survival. now that is a better investment than throwing millions away on mediocre foreign journeyman players to avoid a drop.

back to the Rovers and best game in terms of atmosphere ever for me at the Keepmoat was the packed evening game against Crewe in the Johnstons Paint trophy, recreate that and Preston will crumble...................

I WILL BE THERE.

I think this should be the new Donnybob challenge!

I've got a shortlist of 5 I'm aiming to bring along.

will you be able to? it also says the persons details have to be on the back of voucher F in the season ticket book...implying that its only 1 per season ticket.

Did anyone else notice the bit on DROS that the club are using this as a pilot scheme for next season. If it works they are talking about repeating it for next season where in addition to getting the friend in for a fiver, the STH will get a discount voucher off their 2012/13 ST.

An interesting idea, certainly goes some way towards recognising existing STH's.

As Rob suggests, let's resurrect DonnyBob one more time!

If I had the time or could be arsed, it would be interesting to find out with all the offers in one form or another this season for the \"bloke who pays on the door\", if you could have paid on a match to match basis and paid less than a season ticket holder to see all the games.

These deals which in my opinion, kick season ticket holders in the balls is the reason why I am not renewing mine next season.

For someone of the socialist persuasion, Jon, thats a very capitalist viewpoint.  I am surprised.

The club have clarified that the offer is limited to one 'new' friend per STH. An update will be issued to clarify the terms and conditions.

Also, as mentioned previously, the intention is to use this type of scheme at midweek games next season and GIVE SEASON TICKET HOLDERS DISCOUNT VOUCHERS FOR THEIR NEXT SEASON TICKET.

I know that might not be as attractive to some as a pure loyalty scheme or even discount, but it's a start

i don't have the figures to hand, but i know that a season ticket is still better value.
