And £90 something million for coming top - premiereshit discussion on it on 5 live saying how it keeps the league competitive for getting into Europe.

Are these presenters munching Prozac or Mogodon in the green room... I can't decide. It was like a party political broadcast for the Royalist Party. What a load of shit, pah!

Shows what a pile of horse crap those mendacious carpetbaggers earlier in the season were offering. Even at its highest their numbers were miles away from competing with that.

Mind you, those really are dreadful numbers....

Not only £62.1m but they also get £60m in parachute payments whether you like it or not  one year in the premiership as long as you don't go mad will set a club up for a long time.

By the way Bob who ever invests and when, £20m or £30m to get to the premiership, then £120m for one year can see why some clubs are chasing the money.

I agree Steve.  I can completely understand why some do it.  Tony Fernandez's arse must be making buttons right now.  All his chips are on red.

The FA has created a golden goose, and some clubs will indeed risk it all to get their share.  The fans deserve better.

The FA?

Was n't initially called the FA Premier League?

Yes, but that was pretty much in name only. The financial damage has been done in recent years by the PL and the negotiations with global tv networks. Plus a tendency to hang on to your own cash and not let it fritter down to the rest of the league structure.

I wonder how much the guys at Leicester have put in over the last few years? A lot more than £30m, I'll wager.

The competition formed as the FA Premier League on 20 February 1992 and the first games were played on 15 August that year

It was never officially called the Premiership then. I thought it was and then was rebranded as the Premier League.

It was called the Premiership domestically and the Premier League internationally.

They rebranded it to make them both the Premier League a few years back.

Why the 'EPL' is a global success

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-27369580

Quite astounding that the only two nations not showing Premier League football on telly are Albania and North Korea.
