Ben smith - after the luton game towards the end of the league one promotion season. I was sat in a queue at the traffic lights outside the racecourse when he drove past. He must have spotted the viking in my back window, reversed back alongside me and we had a good chat before the lights changed. Top bloke - he was dead excited. Not sure if it was about promotion or meeting me!

Have to agree on Lewis Guy, a first class bellend. As for the best, without doubt Gary Brabin. One of the nicest guys i've ever met. Used to have some proper banter with him. And once had a night with him and Russ Wilcox in Ritzy haha. Happy days

All players I have met during mascot / ball boy duties and open days have been a credit to club.

The one that stands out was Diouf ....couldnt do enough!

Last Friday, I ended up taking 5 kids( 2 of my own and their cousins) to watch Newcastle Reserves or under 21's as it is now, play Southampton. They play at a non league ground about 10 mins walk from my house.

Half time and I found myself stood behind Sean McDaid at the tea bar. Said hello, mentioned I was a Rovers fan- he ended up walking around the ground and we stood together for the second half. Kids were too busy playing football on an adjacent pitch by this time. Had a good chat- he was watching 2 Saints lad that his agency look after.

Was a thoroughly nice bloke, loved his time with us and still enthusiastic about Rovers, as he had been when bizarrely I found myself sitting next to him at the Boro away game last April. He is either very genuine or thought that being personable was the best way of dealing with a stalker with 5 kids.

Game was a shocker- Jack Cork played well for Saints (won 1-0) and Jak Alnwick pulled off a few good saves for the Mags, who were otherwise desperate.

Once had the mispleasure of meeting Alford and Alick Jeffrey in a club in town, I had to stop my mate from t**tting Alford when he said he couldnt give a toss about the Rovers and was only here for the money!
