Coppinger and other loanees
« on September 22, 2012, 10:20:18 am by The Red Baron »
I've been checking on the progress of our loanees and I was surprised to find that James Coppinger has made only one brief sub appearance since joining Forest. He has been an unused sub in the last two games. It seems that Forest have signed him purely as cover and he's likely to be back with us in January - but with his market value rather reduced!

Jordan Ball and Liam Wakefield have had their loans extended at Belper and Bradford PA respectively. Ball is now FA Cup-tied and it will be interesting to see if Rovers allow Wakefield to play in Bradford's FA Cup game today.

Jonathan Maxted is of course back with us, but did manage to get two FA Trophy games in during his brief spell with Goole.

Jake McCormick hasn't featured for Frickley for several weeks but he was a fringe player for them and may have returned to Rovers after his initial month. Paddy Mullen is a bit of a mystery. He was supposed to be joining Marine over a week ago but hasn't appeared for them and there is no mention of him joining on their website.

Well Coppinger wanted to go there, it's now up to him to have an impact, SOD seems to have packed his side with midfielders again there.

Bit hit and miss on the youngsters but again they have to force their way in.  Surely Ball and Wakefield will step up soon?

I seem to remember SOD saying during his time with us that if he signed  player on loan he felt obliged to play him or words to that effect. Perhaps I am quoting out of context.

Lalkovic? Mason? SOD barely had them on the pitch.

Add Healy and his center half mate from Sunderland to that list.

Oh go almost forgotten about Kilgallon. What a massive waste of money.

Reece Brown anyone?

Mind, some of O'Driscoll's loan signings did play regularly. Theo Streete and Harry Worley come to mind...

Ball and Wakefield both involved in FA Cup action yesterday:

No sign of Messrs Mullen & McCormick, and of course Copps started for Forest yesterday.

As for Reece Brown, he was turning out at centre-back for Coventry. It could help to explain their League position!

I thought Streete had the makings of a decent footballer. He was as raw as anything when he played for us. Had that buffoon of an agent not got involved, SO'D could have done something with him.

He now plays for Alfreton and I saw him the other week. He's filled out a lot and is quite a handful in the air. Conf or League Two at best is probably his level now, but he could have been decent.

Christ Almighty TRB. Streete has filled out? What is he called now? Motorwaye

Your musings on him reminded me of that scene where Bugsy Malone tells Blousy that he could have been a boxing champion but for a couple of weaknesses -a glass jaw and legs like jelly. Streete could have been a decent footballer if he hadn't had the touch of a wrecking ball on whizz and a turning circle that would have struggled to fit in the Large Hadron Collider.

In the Roman Colluseum, one of the ways they used to amuse the crowd was to tie a virgin to table, smear her with the vaginal secretions of a cow, then release a sex-starved adolescent bull at her.

Them bulls had more subtlty and care about them than Streete did when making a ten yard pass. Several of those passes resulted in structural damage on St Ann's Road due to the sonic boom.

All that said, O'Driscoll did finally get Mark Wilson to put the odd tackle in, so yep, he could well have worked wonders with Streete.

When we signed Streete there was hardly a ringing endorsement from SOD at the time: "Boss Sean O'Driscoll told Rovers' website: "We have little cover for the three-centre backs at the club. Theo had been training with us over the last week and so we decided it was the best option, with him being here already for him to stay."
