Trialist B (# 10) was an American called Dion , looked a very good player , played behind Watters in center midfield.

Not Dion Pereira was it?
that Deon he is an English lad with Portuguese decent not American

He has been playing in Atlanta, but he hails from Watford.

Pereira sounds the most likely to sign out of the 3.

I'm well aware how Google works, that's why I asked the question. As it turns out, it was him.

Villa played a very young side, proffering to have their u23s out on loan and playing lower league men's football to test their ability, as their academy sides tend to play up the age groups.
So not the biggest test we will come up against, Exeter in the next group game probably being a harder test than the young Portsmouth and  Villa sides.
A couple of scouts from Blackburn and Newcastle behind me were full of praise for A J Greaves by the way and taking notes on Watters.
The knock out stages will be a much harder test of our progress, but the games I have watched have been of a good standard, and we have done very well. I am surprised that nobody has mentioned the absolutely fantastic two saves that Jones produced when we took our foot off the peddle near the end, if that is a sample of his all round keeping ability then he is no problem as a sub keeper and has the makings of a a top keeper.

It is easy to get carried away with trialists and overlook what we have coming through in the excitement, Amos, Horton, Blaney, Walker, and a small midfielder called McGowan, (reminds me of Spriggs a Doncaster lad at Huddersfield and Cambridge way back) all played well.

Crikey selby, Steve Spriggs. I remember him well.
Over 400 games for Cambridge.
His dad, Gordon, was a good friend of mine and was also a good player.

Played with Gordon Hound, yes both were good players, Gynn at Coventry I think it was who was also a very good but small player.

I have asked Luke  Thornhill if these games  could be shown or broadcast on DROS ,The media team has few staff and resources there  are very stretched but if anyone would be interested in volunteering support Luke Thornhill is willing to give this some support subject to the resource practicalities mentioned here .

I watched him last night he hasn’t played since September and he didn’t look totally fit and if he is was a Champagne Charlie then bring it on the most skill full 20 year old I’ve seen at Doncaster Rovers for some time.

It was my poor attempt at humour Steve. ;)
