New Strikers
« on January 29, 2020, 08:52:18 pm by besty »
If its true and we are going to sign Okenabirhie, add to this Cole we have gone from no options to at least three.
Whats everyones opinion on how DM might set us up going forward?
Are we going to go 2 up front and if so at whose expense or is he going to keep 2 strikers on the bench?

Its going to be great to have such a good bench but intriguing as to how his tactics might or might not change, any thoughts?

Ennis no 10? Cole competing with no 9 slot? It’s a great headache lol 😂 😂😂

Maybe he will stick to one at first, until the new striker/strikers get upto speed with the other players and team, once he's happy with that, then he may use 2 up front when he thinks his tactics will benefit from it.Upto now,he has been pretty smart with tactics.Going on someones post the other day, that showed the squad and the cover in all positions, assuming we sign Fey,I think another CM,possibly on loan and then Im well happy with the squad for rest of the season.

It’s interesting how quickly things can change isn’t it? We go from being threadbare and praying that Ennis stays fit to suddenly having a possible embarrassment of attacking riches!! Come on you reds!! Top 6 and maybe even championship football next season?? You can dream can’t you ? ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️👍

Think he will stick with how it is otherwise he could of easily tried the option of both together late on in the game last night

Maybe Alan, but if DM can gell a front 3 together who can rotate and be as comfortable coming in from wide areas as they are in the box then we'll have more bases covered and hopefully a better strike rate.

For example Sadlier is good at getting in the centre forwards position just as he did last night. Of course, it will take time to get them up to speed.

Worryingly, West Brom are in talks with Hull for Groziki. Wasn’t Sadlier at Hull’s cup game not very long ago?

Does 2+2 make 5?

Hasn’t Maddison already gone to Charlton?

You are really sad. If all our supporters were like you we wouldn’t have any.
Have you ever posted anything remotely positive about DRFC ?

On the assumption that Okenabirhie is announced today, and that there is the scope to extend Cole’s deal, I’m much happier with these additions to the forward line than I would’ve been with, for example, Adam Idah on a six month loan.

We’ve brought in two players that have proved they can score goals at this level in the past. Both have seen their careers stall a bit for various reasons but these things can happen. They are at a good age and there’s no reason why they can’t get firing again and thrive when settled in the right set up.

If we can invoke an extension in the Cole deal should it work out, and assuming Okenabirhie has signed for a reasonable contract period, then finally this eases some of the pressure to be desperately seeking a new striker come the summer.

Early signs of a more forward thinking plan. Hopefully the Sadlier contract is next.

We've played a blinder getting a 15+ a season goalscorer in Okenabirhie for less than £100K.

I would agree potentially, him and Cole are good signings for the club with potential to kick on.  Certainly (and no disrespect for their efforts) big improvement on Thomas/Bingham.

Though I may be guilty of wishful thinking ,the story about and profile of the young trialist  Periera who starred in the U23 match last night sounds very encouraging .
We all know how difficult it will be to replace Copps ,no one more than DM no doubt .A talented young midfielder like Dion Pereira who is an attacking midfielder is promising of a new type of set up .

Also if we are also looking at humpryhs then he'll add a physical edge too. Looks potentially a good mix, and at good ages too.

To be honest Graing, I would be more excited by him signing than either of the 2 strikers. I was that impressed. It’s a tough one to judge, as it was a very young Villa side, but he showed some real class touches. And he last played back in September.......quite something to ponder on.

Having been very careful when writing about other potential signings, Hoden has put a feature on the DFP website saying that okenhabirie (so) will sign today..

I guess you have heard of Devante Cole.?

There’s someone away with the fairies isn’t there.?

It appears that he impressed a few onlookers, so maybe one to watch - although I would be guarded to sign anyone up on one performance....  Let's hope the club take a closer look and see what the lad is like in upcoming games and in training..

That Pereira has decent pedigree as well, got some PL minutes at Watford and actually started a few games in the MLS for a good side last season. Could be a shrewd pick-up.

With Blackburn and Newcastle scouts at the game last night, we need to get him signed quickly.
