To Scawsby Steve
« on December 20, 2019, 08:34:59 pm by selby »
Against the wishes of some posters who were wishing Brexiteers dead before another referendum, and glorifying the stats that lots had,  us old Percy Pigs saw the job out.
Now the boot is on the other foot, certainly there is a good chance that Cable, Clark, Soubry,Abbott,Corbyn, McDonnall,Greive, and a load more including the not so old overweight nodding donkeys on the labour front bench, will have kicked their clogs, or will be still talking gibberish in the corner of the care home before the subject raises it's head again if it ever does.
Reap what they sow comes to mind.

Sydney, wrong person to be preaching about Burma to, as my father said, when he was there his worst memory was seeing his best mates dead, and thinking has he any water, is his boots better than mine, has he any rice and ammo.
And the surgeons made it so he could just lift a fork to his mouth for the rest of his life, and he considered himself one of the very lucky ones, you have a lot to thank people like him for, they allowed you to spout diatribe when you want to buddy.

Quite a few did, they used to light fires behind the positions of the troops to show the Japanese the line of fire, I suggest you read the history of the K.O.Y.L.I. in Burma, or the battle's of the Admin Box, Imphal, and Kohima  buddy before thinking everything  anti British again.

Sydney I think you think too much, are you ashamed to be British? do you just think that continually posting hoping to have the last word makes you right? Would you serve in the armed forces if Britain god forbid needed you? you do have one thing going for you like most remainers you don't know when you are beat, but cannot read the signs of what people around you think.
It was you and a few others that posted about brexiteers dyeing, disgusting buddy, and now showing the bile you have been taught to be ashamed of what you are.
You are from another world than me, I hope you come to enjoy your world eventually as much as I have enjoyed mine, I genuinely feel sorry for you.

Quite a few interesting points there Selby - including what does patriotism mean or look like?

Contrast for instance the courageous actions of the individual British soldier - like your dad - with the actions of the PM in his election campaign.

Refusing to do the Neil interview after he had conned the other leaders into thinking he would, not wanting to talk about the little boy sleeping on the floor of the hospital and then hiding in a fridge to escape the media.

He has already shown what he is going to do for todays forces. He has already disowned the new aircraft carriers some people on here were raving about and now wants a review of defence spending. Not to give them the best kit - but the cheapest kit.

And here we go already. One of the main UK defence companies sold to an American asset stripper.

from Wilt's link

''A government report found the merger caused some national security risks, but said on Friday concerns had been mitigated to an "acceptable level".''

The founding family of the firm said the announcement on Friday evening was "cynically timed to avoid scrutiny".

You need to wind your neck in there are quite a few folks in Doncaster lost
Family members in the Burma Campaign, 2 nd Battalion KOYLI was comprised mainly of Men from Doncaster and Pontefract.250 were killed on the Sittang Bridgehead. Of the 550 that started the campaign only 83 marched out of Burma.

Maybe you need to get some reading glasses sprot as I don't remember mentioning british soldiers but I do remember selby using a straw man argument to try and make a point. I posted a link where johnson was ridiculed for embarrassing government and the British people by default in the national media for his gaff when he was 'acting' foreign secretary.

So it doesn't bother you sprot that a specialised british defence company is sold off with security risks that will never see the light of day and half the profits will end up in the US of A?  :)

Well it hasn’t bothered any of the expert Defense Analysts so why would somebody as clued up on Defence like myself have an issue with it. Even if the Uk factory was shut down, I would hope that the Cobham family have sufficient intellectual Copyright to open another one.

Hmmm. I wonder why the BBC report misses out this last sentence by Lady Cobham:

Lady Nadine Cobham, the daughter-in-law of the company’s founder Sir Alan Cobham, said: “This is a deeply disappointing announcement and one cynically timed to avoid scrutiny on the weekend before Christmas.

“In one of its first major economic decisions, the government is not taking back control so much as handing it away.

“In Cobham we stand to lose yet another great British defence manufacturer to foreign ownership, through a takeover that would never have been approved by the Americans, French or Japanese, all of whom have taken steps recently to raise protections for their own defence sectors.”

Odd of the Govt to announce a decision like this at 10pm on the last working day before Xmas at Westminster.

Ah well. I'm sure there was a sensible reason. It's not like this bunch to try to pull the wool over anyone's eyes is it?
