Can i just say that my thoughts don't go out to his family, purely because i'm not some sort of knee-jerk, over-reactionary, grief-stricken t**t. How many minutes did your thoughts go out to them for, did you sit there in the darkness of your living room contemplating how empty his mother must feel knowing that her son is gone? Get a grip FFS!!Still, unlucky for that lad.

Is Bob questioning it? I'm not sure he is, more like balancing both sides of the debate.
I find this thread both odd, and interesting, at the same time.On the one hand, which of us really cares about what happened to the poor lad? None of us knew him. None of us knew any of his friends, relatives, family. So on an intellectual level, there is not much to be sad about. So I understand Sif's point. In fact, I almost agree with it.But on the other hand, the backlash against Sif's comment does make me realise that there are plenty of people on this board who take a christian (small 'c'' for me) view of what is clearly a sad and unfortunate event. So Sif's bad press could be seen as an expression of christian values and a caring for humanity in general. We should all admire that. But you can take the point further: where does christian sensitivity end and political correctness begin? Is this simply a fashion that makes Sif almost a pariah? It reminds me of all that wailing and beating of breasts when Diana died. What the chuff was all that for???? I despised that then and I despise it now. So, I'm going to conclude on the side of the minority. Always did like a good minority. Idrizaj's death was a sad event. But it touched none of us in even the remotest degree. So whilst I can, and do, regret his passing, I'm not going to break out in a rash about it. So well done to Sif for honesty, for thinking clearly and for having the guts to put it inw writing.CheersBobG
