Goals scored in all competitions in a season
« on May 06, 2024, 08:35:56 pm by Dutch Uncle »
In our entire football league and conference history (97 seasons) we have only on 4 occasions scored more than the 93 goals in all competitions we have scored this season (and we are hopefully not finished yet). There were three consecutive seasons either side of WW2:

1937-38: 99
1938-39: 95
1946-47: 134

And the other season? That was Grant's last time with us in 2018-19 when we scored 104 goals

The man combines success with entertainment - what a team to watch he has built ............................. again

The 18-19 season was IMO the most enjoyable from an entertainment point of view since Rovers were last relegated from the Championship. And the most successful.

The memory of that season in part explains why Rovers fans didn't get on McCann's back during the first 2/3rds of this season.

How many fans of other teams would have been calling for his head when we were 22nd in late January? How many clubs would have dismissed him?

We're now collectively reaping the rewards for our patience and superior footballing knowledge.

Todays game showed how he likes to attack.
We were two nil up and could have tried to take it easy, tried to keep the ball in the corner etc but when we got free kicks and corners we were still sending players into the box looking to get a third goal.

It will be the same on Friday if we score 2 and take it to 4-0 on aggregate we will definitely trying to get the 5th.

Can you imagine mk dons or Crawley watching on and seeing we had scored 5 they would have that in the back of there mind all the way to Wembley one off game or not

Astonishing considering how toothless we were in attack for the first 2/3rds of the season.

After 29 league games we'd scored only 33 league goals.

We've scored 42 in the last 18 games.
