Scottish links
« on April 29, 2019, 07:29:40 am by 5minstogo »
Sat at home watching Soccer Saturday and noticed two goal scoring links to Rovers.

Martin Woods managed to score a penalty rather than sending it into orbit again. He's played 22 games this season for Dundee and racked up 8 yellow cards.was surprised to see him still playing.

Rachid Bouhenna who had a very brief spell with us scored his first goal of the season for Dundee United.

lest you forget this gentleman of "hit the post (again)" fame who as you all know celebrated coming on loan to Rovers by buying a new TV

on sunday
Uche Ikpeazu's late equaliser denied Hibernian back-to-back Edinburgh derby victories and kept Hearts within three points of their fifth-top hosts.

The way all these players who we would consider in the 'average or below' or the 'disappointing' categories crop up in Scottish football, you might find yourself thinking Scottish football was somehow inferior. Nah, surely not!

Seriously, what an absolutely crap league and their national team thinks changing their manager (again) will somehow transform their international results. Because they manage to up their game in their 'cup finals' against us, they seem to get an elusion that they're somehow a decent outfit and are shocked when they only scrape wins against San Marino and lose to Kazakstan.

The SPL is indeed a poor league outside of the main 5 teams of Celtic, Rangers, Hearts, Hibs & Aberdeen.

But what it tells me about Gary Woods is that it's very difficult to maintain a living in football and you have to be prepared to take the rough with the smooth, go where you can get games on your CV and keep the money coming in. I happen to know Gary and his family, not well, but well enough to know he's a nice lad from a good family and he has had to work hard at what he does.

The unglamorous side of football. The likes of the premier league coining it in and a lot of lesser players being paid late and in some cases not at all for months.
