Whatever happened to him, he used to come into the stands selling H/T draw tickets, but don't seem to have seen him for a couple of seasons maybe. Don't know his surname.
-
The girls who used to sell tickets at OBV used to travel over from West Yorkshire I believe but didn't seem to move onto KMS
Not sure where this guy has gone not seen him for a while
-
It was Dave Parker i think, left a couple of years ago.
-
What about the old fella who used to sell programs outside the main stand at BV then at the KM. is he still around?
-
His wife used to stand near the golf club at Belle Vue
-
I think you're on about Mr and Mrs Wheatley, they still go and sit in the East Stand
-
Whatever happened to that old guy used to sell programmes at OBV back in the 70s? Used to look a bit like Jake Thackeray.
-
I couldn't think of their names, they were both always pleasant what ever the weather when selling the programmes . They must have sold 1000's over the years
-
Thanks for the info DRFC1951. Hope he is well.

That's the one. Been selling them for years bless him.
-
He used to be on the gate in the cow shed
-
One of us would buy a ticket for the cowshed and drop it to our mates, six would get in for price of one, 5p if i remember rightly.
-
Do you recall going in cowshed just so you could stamp yer feet like a
coach load of nut jobs let out for the day

im sure he works at chesterfield fc doing the lottery and raffle draws
-
Dave Parker was big mates with JR and think he left about the same time.
-
Yeah I think Dave Parker brought a team of sellers with him
-
If you believe what your read on here, he is still about on this very forum, posting under a pseudonym.*
*I don't believe a lot of what I read on here
-
Dave Parker kept in touch with Newyankee, he was actually employed by JR and did his PR work, he still writes in a newspaper but I cannot remember which one Derek said. Dave got his fingers burnt on many things in preparing articles for JR as he was the fall guy, I knew him first when he wrote for THe Rugby Leaguer and was inspirational in the formation of Nottingham RLFC, he lives Dewsbury way on.

He once wrote a little anecdote about me in JR's column in the programme basically I got smashed in the face with a ball broke my glasses and allsorts the game was a night game on Valentines Day he reckoned it was my Missis getting her own back for me going to Rovers instead of taking her out :)

Perfectly correct Bally. Parker writes for the Sun about Rugby League. He has his own Rugby League forum and used the name "Longserving supporter" on this forum. He left the Moat at the point there was a leak from the board which apparently appeared in the Sun, "say no more squire". Ray Green is now doing Parkers job I think you will know him from the Dons.
I miss the calls from America RIP Derek.
-
Yes. Ray Green and I go back as far as junior school, he went to Stainy Junction Rd and I went to the Convent. I too miss Derek's blitz, I did go and straighten his flowers last Wednesday in the Mem Garden
-
Bally,
Ray lived at No2 Granville Cres and I lived at No5. We were in the same year at school. Some one was telling me that his boy was playing for Sheffield Eagles could have been Derek.
Obviously Ray has seen the light and supports the Rovers now. I will be up shortly Norm's in for open heart surgery ASAP so I should be able to visit Derek's memorial then.
Good result tonight but we have to manage games better than we did, it reminded me of the Stevenage game, it turned me in to a wreck.
-
Was he that bloke who used to wear a suit and club tie and come up the steps in the South Stand selling raffle tickets?
-
Yes.
