Striker Signed
« on July 11, 2018, 05:02:47 pm by sedwardsdrfc »
Just seen we've signed Mallik Wilks from leeds on a 6 month loan deal. Don't know much about him but says he's a forward

Very young with limited experience and none at our level. No track record to speak of from his loan spells in league 2.

Only joined on loan too. We might as well give our own youngsters a chance. This is surely not the foil for Marquis we have been looking for.

Yeah he's more in the kongolo status where he could hit it off massively or just be a squad player. Says he's got pace which is something we have lacked for a while.

As you say we still need to sign another striker who can be relied upon

What's wrong with Kiwomya?

Not a lot of info on him. As you say is he any better than Kiwomya?

From what I saw last season, not good enough. Was hoping a preseason would sort him out though.

He's probably a replacement for Mandeville, not Kiwomya.

Kiowomya has always seemed a winger it was just the last manager had a thing against playing with width

I'd think this lad will be a squad player for us although he did play a fair bit for accrington who were great last season so maybe i'm been harsh

Just watched his goals on you tube and shows promise, well worth giving a go.

Leeds think enough of him to give him a 4 year contract. After league 2 last season maybe he is ready for the next level and will surprise us.

Welcome to DRFC Mallik

As long as he is not a replacement for Marquis.

Didn't his grandad  Henry have the Woolpack in Emmerdale a few years back?

The underwhelming feeling from the summer signings so far is absolutely stifling. If they're all brilliant, and we storm into the top 6, I promise I'll hold my hand up on here; don't hold your breath though.

We will have to see how he develops in what postion of the front three he plays. But if DF had signed a 19 year old unproven striker from Leeds there would have been far more people not agreeing on this sight.

Heff, that's what I meant, it is no good us signing a loan player, and any other striker and letting our best players go.

Selby we have one top end league 1 striker that’s JM if the club are serious about top six finish he cannot leave the club. We build round him and go for it and tell JM that’s what we are doing.

The managers made his choice about all the other nearly there forwards and decided to bring in a Loanee 19 year old striker that’s his choice will be a good one we will find out.

On a positive note, it does appear as though we are looking to play with a support striker for Marquis.
Maybe we might score a few more goals.

Only if we get creative and strength in the midfield we didn’t have last season that must be of put right before the transfer window closes. Better sides will cut through the centre three midfield that played in either half last night.

As reported by the Star.....

This is what McCann said about Wilks signing.....

“He’s going to give us the in-behind pace that I think you definitely need in this league."

“I’ve got John Marquis who likes to go that way, but can go the other way."

“Alex Kiwomya can run. Alfie Beestin likes to come short. Alfie May likes to go behind."

You can see his reasoning..................... right?
