Got to feel sorry for him. I'd make far more than two mistakes if I was in such a pressure situation, guaranteed.

sorry no sympathy, it's his job it's what he is paid to do. Klopp must start looking for a decent keeper next season if LFC are to progress

That will probably ruin him now.

But it was always Liverpool’s weakest position so Klopp can’t be too surprised

If it was our keeper he would never hear the last of it, our fans would be on his back for ever

But they shouldn't be, and that doesn't make it okay.

It’s good to read that some fans acknowledge that players are human and, therefore, bound to make mistakes. Let’s hope that when referees also cock it up big time, the same fans adopt the same attitude.

Only saying!

Sadly, glosterred, you’re probably right.

If Ross Etheridge had been playing for Liverpool last night, they would have been Champions League champions now, that's how bad Karius was. The worst goalkeeping display at top level football I've ever seen in my life.

he will never live those mistakes down, but to jump on calling him a clown is pretty poor .

Not really, the loudest and most obnoxious would be on his back forever, and regularly refer to the errors in various mediums. However, we seem to have a knack of echoing their unkindness, where it may be better to ignore, trying to challenge every unfair statement made seems to have a habit of only fanning the flames.

I don't know what the answer is, but I still believe that the whingey collection of Rovers fans is very much in the minority, but somehow have developed a system that works very effectively.

Never been convinced by Karius and it's not the first time he's made the same sort of error that led to the first goal.

Great credit should be given to Benzamar for his anticipation though.
Any other day the ball would just have been back in play from the throw out.

Everyone has know for two years that he isn’t good enough. The higher the level and pressure that more your lack of temperament and ability gets found out. No sympathy.

How can a goalkeeper at that level make those types of mistakes?

How can a goalkeeper at that level make those types of mistakes?

Simple: ‘cos he’s human, and no matter who you are you will inevitably make some.

There gave been many times when top keepers have let soft goals in.
Carson in the World Cup and Ray Clemence letting that one through his legs against the Jocks spring to mind.

The best players in the world still have the odd bad game. Probably the nerves got to him, as that was probably the biggest game so far in his career.

That's quite right Wiltshire, but some keepers make more than others; just look at the keepers in the top flight teams that Liverpool have to compete with; de Gea, Courtois, LLoris, Cech, Fabianski, Romero, and Bravo. Karius isn't in their class, and Liverpool need much better if they're going to win trophies.

Any goalkeeper will do that, it's the keepers that make the fewest mistakes that stand out. Liverpool need better.
