Will we be forced into an away game as there is an evening meet with Ocean Colour Scene after the races, can't imagine plod would want a possible Rotherham/Scunthorpe in town as well as dealing with 1000's of pissed up racegoers? Also Texas are playing after races 2 weeks after so it would probably fall on an away day then as well ??
-
We're never at home first or last game and also at Christmas!
-
It will not be at Oldham, we don't play them until December /January
-
Away to Port Vale
-
Gillingham away
-
Racing hasn't made a difference to Rovers games since the move to the Keepmoat.
-
Any guess for first one.
Mine is Fleetwood away.
-
My guess would be Blackburn away
-
Gillingham away
-
Plymouth at home

23/1 chance of being right.
-
23/1 chance of being right.
22/1 actually.
-
23/1 chance of being right.
22/1 actually.
mmm, 24 teams in L1 so i still reckon that with 23 home games it is 23/1.

Away to Port Vale
I doubt it 😴

I'm no mathematician, but - 24 team = 46 games (home and away)
If you pick the right fixture or team that's 1 option removed, leaving either 45 fixtures or 22 teams
Therefore
You have a 45-1 chance of picking the right fixture (getting the home or away bit right as well)
Or a 22-1 chance of picking the right team.
Happy to be educated ....

Yep 22/1 to pick the right team. 22 wrong answers to one right one.
-
Yes, i agree.
What i should have said i a one in twenty three chance of being right.

I dreamt last night that we got Bradford away on the opening day. What a boring opening week that'd be!
-
Good if we won both games though.
Can we play you every week?
-
W
I dreamt last night that we got Bradford away on the opening day. What a boring opening week that'd be!
Well it would save me petrol money.
Four pints in the Corn Dolly as well with Rovers and City mates.
Win win for me, hopefully the same on the pitch.

Probably not over the course of the season....
Never really got the obsession with fixture releases, you play every team twice. I was on holiday last week and there were some Leicester fans by the pool moaning about the fixtures and how they were set up to help the bigger teams. I was dying to say something but bit my tongue!
-
Wigan away

No, it's one right answer from 23 possibilities, so 23/1.
In very simple terms, tossing a coin has two possibilities from which you can choose one outcome as your call, so the probability of calling right is 2/1 - one chance in two. If we use your logic of one right answer and one wrong answer, you have odds of 1/1, which is one chance in one, which equates to calling right every time because there's only one choice you can make.

1/1 or even money. We are talking odds not probability.

Who said anything about odds? drfchound said 23/1 chance of being right, which is probability. And he's right.

He meant odds. Nobody quotes probability, it's 2017, it's all about odds.

Surely it's 46/1. There are 46 possible fixtures and you're predicting which one of them will come first?
-
Weekend in Blackpool then back again 2 weeks later Fleetwood away

Hope both Charlton and AFC Wimbledon away are after the cricket season and on Saturdays

I'll bet (see what I did there) that there are a hell of a lot more gamblers on here than mathematicians.
What are the odds that this pedantry rumbles on until after the fixtures are announced? Or should that be what is the probability?
-
Still have a hunch it'll be away to a relegated team, so I fancy a Roses clash with either Wigan or Blackburn.
-
So, what's the odds that hound is a mathematician, my bet is that you've backed the wrong horse this time Glynn.
-
Peterborough away. :bscarf:
-
What time are they out

So, what's the odds that hound is a mathematician, my bet is that you've backed the wrong horse this time Glynn.
But I'm saying he's right!
-
That's why you've backed the wrong horse, unless of course hound is a mathematician and he was quoting probabilities.
-
What time are they out
They're released at 9am.
-
I will go for Wimbledon away :rtid:
-
The first fixture I look to is Boxing Day....and as usual I bet we are away - probably Walsall
Is it just me or do we always seem to be away on this the biggest of footballing days - just like the FA Cup. Call me a pessimist! Certainly more than the 50% probability!!!!
One for Dutch Uncle - a bit of easy analysis?
-
Shit hole Blackburn away.

The last ten years or so have seen us away on the three big dates (first game, last game, boxing day) quite a lot but we were at home to Millwall on Boxing Day a couple of years ago and did we not play Coventry or someone at the 'Moat a year or two before?
Ideally for me we'd be away on the opening day, home on Boxing Day and away on the final day if there's something riding on it
-
I'll go Northampton home.
-
Plymouth away in away in Cornwall so not to far to travel
-
Port Vale away!!
-
Stoke at home !!
-
Suppose a home game would be nice on opening day and boxing day if were being picky.
-
What time are they out
They're released at 9am.
thanks Mick

My name is drfchound and i am an alcoholic, sorry, mathematician, sorry - getting a bit mixed up lads.
However, my good friend Glyn is right when he says i said 23/1 chance of being right.
Sorry Gaz but i never said odds of 23/1.
