Penalty

Can't believe nobody has mentioned it. Thought it looked soft at the time and, having seen a replay I haven't changed my mind.

I didn't think it was a penalty, but the linesman flagged for it. He was right to wave his flag, but only for a Reading player being offside, not a dubious penalty.

Every report I've read and heard says it was a nailed on pen. I believe even Quinny has apologised for his mistake.

I've seen it on Sky. It was a stonewaller. Like me, I think the ref was unsure if it was inside or outside the box and that was what the lino confirmed for him.

Did a Reading player look offside prior to the 'penalty' from the south stand?

In line with it and my impression was that Le Fondre was initially offside.

The ball travelled a long way though, because Meite missed his header.

I thought we should have had a penalty shortly afterwards, Billy was pulled down in the box, I'm surprised the players didn't make a protest

From the west stand, in line with play I saw the linesman rightly raise his flag for what I thought at the time was Lefondre being off-side. Then he started waving it to indicate a penalty.

...and academic as it was the Ref seemed to be staring at the Lino for their 3rd goal more or less imploring him to flag it offside

... but I was probably seeing things in my haste to leave the scene of the crime - probably second time ever I have left early (before end that is)

all they did was hoof the ball all day long. Meite should have been told to get under everything that was in the air and head it back out. Simples? I didn't see one passage of play that came from their back 4 through midfield. Awful team to watch. No that we're any better like...

Fair point, BJW. Which makes it all the more infuriating that we decided to adopt their hoof-ball tactics in the second half.

We played the conditions very poorly in the second half, Brown never got near anything hoofed up to him, add that to our two centre midfield players not being ball players we were left with no option but to hoof it. Keegan and Furman maybe both battlers, but they just can not play together, hence the reason our chances up front have all but dried up, we have no creativity in the centre of the park
